Universal Sending ‘The Invisible Man’ And ‘The Hunt’ To VOD Early

Theaters across the world are shutting down to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. So what happens to the movies that should be playing? Universal is moving some of their new releases to VOD. Deadline is reporting that Leigh Whannell‘s brilliant hit The Invisible Man (review) and Craig Zobel‘s controversial film The Hunt, both from Blumhouse, will arrive on VOD Friday, March 20th. The Invisible Man has already had a successful run at the box office bringing in over $120 million, but The Hunt‘s release came when people were already avoiding public gatherings, so it didn’t make much a splash. Hopefully, the VOD release will help it to rebound. The movies will be available “on-demand 48-hour rental at the suggested price of $19.99.” Odds are we will see a lot more studios follow in Universal’s footsteps and send their new films straight to VOD. The situation isn’t all bad for us though, we get to watch these great films

Facing East Documentory Director Talks Corruption And Buried Bodies In An Interview

Tommy Baker, the filmmaker behind the documentary Facing East, sat down with me to discuss his film and the heartbreaking and infuriating events that have taken place over decades at the Eastern Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky. Referred to as “the most overcrowded’ in all of Kentucky, the Eastern Cemetery held a horrifying secret for many years, that the owners of the cemetery were selling plots, but in reality were using the same ones over and over, each time piling body on top of body. Over 100,000 people were buried this way. Thanks to the nonprofit group Friends of Eastern Cemetery that came together to clean up the grounds, bodies were discovered and many made aware of the horrors that happened. Now, Baker wants to share the story in hopes of making the events truly known to the world. Horror Fuel: “How did you come across the story?” Tommy Baker: “Back in 2013 a buddy of mine ran into a guy

‘Swallow’ Now Out On Digital And Demand

From writer-director Carlo Mirabella-Davis (interview) comes the brilliant thriller Swallow, now out on Digital and Demand. On the surface, Hunter (Haley Bennett) appears to have it all. A newly pregnant housewife, she seems content to spend her time tending to an immaculate home and doting on her Ken-doll husband, Richie (Austin Stowell). However, as the pressure to meet her controlling in-laws and husband’s rigid expectations mounts, cracks begin to appear in her carefully created facade. Hunter develops a dangerous habit, and a dark secret from her past seeps out in the form of a disorder called pica – a condition that has her compulsively swallowing inedible, and oftentimes life-threatening, objects. A provocative and squirm-inducing psychological thriller, Swallow follows one woman’s unraveling as she struggles to reclaim independence in the face of an oppressive system by whatever means possible.
