Jamie Lee Curtis coming back to play Laurie Strode? Is this a trick or is this a treat? Well, my Little Monsters, it appears to be a huge Halloween treat, indeed. Not for this Halloween mind you, but just in time for the big screen next Halloween. On the next Halloween film’s release date of October 19th of 2018 to be exact. In a post on Twitter, which you can see below, Jamie Lee has announced that Laurie Strode is indeed returning to Haddonfield after 40 years, for one last go ’round with her big bro, Michael Myers. https://twitter.com/jamieleecurtis/status/908760232016322560 Of course this would put Halloween fans in roughly the same position that Alien fans would have been in if they made the Neill Blomkamp film with Ripley and Hicks both returning. It’s now September my Little Monsters, and Halloween is 60 days away. Yeah, I know how you feel, it just can’t get here fast enough. Like many of you, I am already compiling my list of movies and music for the Hall-iday season, as it were. And while Halloween is a perennial favorite on my roster of frightening feature films, there’s a digital album I added to my playlist today…and it was absolutely FREE. Halloween Returns is an album composed by Tony McKee, featuring 8 tracks of music inspired by the film. The entire album is available at for download at Amazon, but you Little Monsters better hurry since there’s no telling how long it will be available to download for free.

With Halloween only 3 months away (96 days) it’s time to start planning the best season of the year, what decor you are going to use, your costume, and what haunts to visit. We have some thrilling news about one place you have to check out, Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights. It has just been announced that along with other killer themes, like American Horror Story and The Shining, this year Ash vs Evil Dead will be featured. Groovy, right? Visitors will witness deadites, characters, bloody scenes, and more from season one and two of the badass series from Starz. Head to Universal Studios in Orlando or California from September 15th to November 4th, just make sure you have an empty bladder, if you know what I mean. You can buy tickets and learn more here.

So my Little Monsters, today we say goodbye to the month of May. BUT, being that it’s also Wednesday, it means we also say hello to another wonderful Woman of Horror. This week’s liebenswerte Frau (that’s lovely lady to you and me, Rusty), is the incredibly sweet and talented P.J. Soles. Pamela Jayne was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Nancy and Cornelis Hardon. P.J. and her parents were quite the globetrotters as she was growing up. No, not the Meadowlark Lemon and Curly Neal kind of Globetrotters. Her father worked for an international insurance corporation, so his career path took them all around the world. As P.J. was growing up, P.J. and her family lived in Morocco, Venezuela and Brussels, where she attended high school at the International School of Brussels. After high school, she attended Briarcliff College in Briarcliff Manor, NY, where she had aspirations of becoming the very first woman ambassador to the Soviet Union. However, after visiting

Greetings my Little Monsters! I am so pleased you’ve all returned to help me celebrate another wonderful Woman of Horror. I do have to admit that I feel remiss in my duties, having waited so long to write about this immensely talented woman. So, without further adieou, I present to you, Kristina Klebe. Kristina was born in New York City, but would grow up making the rounds with her family spending time in New York, France, Germany and Italy. The time spent growing up abroad allowed her to become fluent in the three aforementioned foreign languages. By the time she was in high school, Kristina had become a pianist and competitive equestrian. However these activities would have to take a back seat so that Kristina could commit more fully to her true love of acting. Kristina was granted early admission to Dartmouth, where she would pursue a major in Politics with a minor in Theater and Film Studies and graduate

Director Brett Ratner called out the dangers of aggregate film score sites like Rotten Tomatoes or the similar Metacritic in an article that devolves into a promo for his upcoming films. Halloween night is approaching and three young women, Alyson, Chloe and Jess. have decided that a night out among scores of people is not something they’re interested in. Instead they would rather have their own girls night in, enjoying food and drink, and each others company. As Alyson is preparing for this intimate gathering, a creepy masked stranger startles her while intrusively snooping around the kitchen window. Despite dropping and breaking a plate out of surprise, she will at least have an interesting story to share later. But as the evening wears on, and win is consumed, andtales of Bloody Mary are bandied about, the trio may find there is still more to the story where the masked stranger is concerned. The story behind David Teixeira’s short film has a familiar tone, but is lacking some elements to drive the narrative and build suspense or fear. Suspension of Disbelief? Sit through this annoying video up until the 5:00 mark. The fan boy “host” in the above video talks in attention deficit tweets. The video uses jump cut “hip” editing to spill out unabashed respect and love for the CGI technique that brought Peter Cushing back from the grave in “Rogue One.” He spends the first five minutes elaborating on the incredible work and effort it took create this digital feat. The “host” proclaims, “I think they pulled it off.” Then, being a true “fan” he takes a swipe at all of the work done by Industrial Light and Magic, effects artist, John Knoll and director Gareth Edwards. “Now Tarkin didn’t look a hundred percent authentic,” the “host” whines, “especially the movement of his mouth, but…he looked better than any other time this has been used.” What movies has this guy made? What has happened to film audiences? In the never ending quest for “realism” in special

Halloween, the REAL most wonderful time of the year, has passed. In the midst of all the ghosts, goblins, clowns, and princesses that braved their way up my driveway and into my horror-themed garage to get their fun-sized chocolate bar, I had a realization…kids want to be scared. Mine was the only house in the small town that was, well…a little overkill (no pun intended) decorated for the holiday. Severed heads gory enough to draw stink-eyed stares and comments from neighbors, blood spatter, eerie candles, a smoke machine and various other ornamentation to set the mood of terror covered the area where nearly a hundred children came for their treat. My decorations were not new; neither was my highly elaborate costume. The new part was the fact that after about 45 minutes of trick-or-treating almost every costumed-visitor or their accompanying parents mentioned that kids all over were making comments like: “we were told that we have to come to the

Friday. November 11th. Death House is officially done. Like the 2016 election, it will soon be in the hands of the people to make their decision. Hear my personal views on this film at 22:30 here on Postmortem Radio just published Nov. 8, 2016: HERE https://www.horrorphilia.com/postmortem-radio-episode-016-inside-death-house-wdirector-harrison-smith/ It’s been a long road. Gunnar Hansen, who created the project, is not here to see it emerge from the post production studio. We wrapped principal photography May 5th. Six months later we have a finished film. it is true…making a movie is akin to a minor miracle. Making one with the largest collection of horror names in a single picture, to date…that’s something else. This is a personal entry from me on this film. From its director and its writer. It’s not a pitch. Those who want to see it will see it. Those who don’t will likely see it anyway. Many will love it. Some won’t. It’s the way it goes anytime
