Mostly Spoiler Free Review: Dear David – Inspired By A True Story

In 2017, Buzz Feed artist Adam Ellis made the first tweet about the ghost child with a crushed head haunting him. The tweets referred to the child as “Dear David,” and quickly, it went viral as he updated his followers regularly about the spooky events. It didn’t take long for Buzz Feed and Lionsgate to acquire the right to his story and adapted it for a movie set to be released this October. As someone who followed the original “Dear David” thread as the story unfolded, I already had prejudice towards the movie. I believed it couldn’t hold up against the spookiness of Adam’s tale. Plus, a recent poster made me lose some interest in the movie because, frankly, it looked super cheesy, making me assume the movie would be too. Well, you know what they say about assuming, “It makes an ass out of you and me.” I decided to watch it anyway, prepared to write a scathing review.

Meet The Deadly and Devilish Salutors From ‘The Thaumaturge’

11 Bit Studios have released three new trailers for their upcoming dark RPG The Thaumaturge, each focusing on one of the four Salutors that help the game’s main protagonist Wiktor. Salutors are otherworldly creatures that will assist Wiktor in combat, each with their own unique lore and special abilities to aid our hero in his fight against the growing evil in 1905’s Warsaw. Three of the four Salutors already have their trailers out with the fourth, Weles coming out at a later date. Fans will be meeting the terror lurking in the shadows, Bukavac, a horned monster that’s hard to tame. The ghost of foolishness, Lelek, is a bird-like creature that gets into a person’s head and makes them insane. Finally, there’s the ghost of a tormented soul, the Upyr, the spirit of a person that’s neither alive nor dead and resents the living.

‘The Last Voyage Of The Demeter’ Sets A Course For Home Release

The Last Voyage of the Demeter sailed into theaters this past summer. Now has set a course for a home release and is a “must-own” for any collection. Directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), the movie is based on a single chilling chapter, “The Captain’s Log,” from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, and tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo—fifty unmarked wooden crates—from Carpathia to London. The Last Voyage also stars Corey Hawkins (In the Heights, Straight Outta Compton) as Clemens, a doctor who joins the Demeter crew, and Aisling Franciosi (Game of Thrones, The Nightingale) as an unwitting stowaway.
