No, this is not The Onion, cinemas in Hong Kong have pulled Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey from their lineups due to “technical glitches” which it’s a bit odd that it happened to all copies of just this film in multiple theatres… All signs point to Chinese authoritarian censorship. For those not familiar, all images of Winnie the Pooh, that loveable honey-addicted bear who is all about doing nothing because it could lead to something, who in recent years has entered the public domain, is banned in China. I know many are chuckling right now because they already are aware of the reason why, but to those of you who are not aware, Chinese President Xi Jinping, in short, had his feelings hurt after many people in and out of China have compared his likeness to that of the Silly old Bear. This rift between the authoritarian leader and the fictional children’s character started in 2013 in which after

After a nearly four-year wait, season two of Prime Video’s “Carnival Row,” created by Travis Beacham and Rene Echevarria, recently premiered. I was thrilled when I heard the news because season one was fantastic. “Carnival Row” features a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose rich homelands were invaded by the empires of man. This growing immigrant population struggles to coexist with humans in the grimiest section of the city, forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate, and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly-intolerant society. Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo’s standing during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row. As Philo investigates, he reveals an unimaginable monster. In the first season, we were introduced to both the human and the fae characters, with Orlando Bloom’s half-human

The Balck Demon comes from director Adrian Grunberg (Rambo: Last Blood) and is based on a Mexican legend of a giant black shark reportedly seen by ships. The final trailer is here, teasing an action-packed film. When oilman Paul Sturges takes his family to Bahia Negra, the crown jewel of Baja and the site of Paul’s best-performing rig, the vibrant Mexican coastal town he once knew has mysteriously crumbled. In the decrepit ghost town, the last inhabitants tell Paul the offshore platform has awoken ‘El Demonio.’ Scared to be left alone, the family follows Paul out to the platform, and just after they get on, the man and boat that risked bringing them are ferociously attacked by a massive black shark.
