One of the best genre films of the year, Midsommar (review) has now been released on home video, but the festivities are continuing with two new behind the scenes clips from the special features featuring Ari Aster, Jack Reynor, Florence Pugh, and Vilhelm Blomgren discussing their time filming this summer’s unsettling film! The film stars Florence Pugh (upcoming Black Widow and Little Women) as a young woman who reluctantly joins her boyfriend on a summer trip to a remote Swedish village for a midsummer festival, which becomes more and more sinister as the days pass. Don’t Miss ‘Joe Bob’s Halloween Hootenanny’ On Shudder!

To celebrate our favorite holiday, Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thrillers and the supernatural, is throwing a Halloween special like no other, hosted by Joe Bob Briggs, the world’s foremost drive-in movie critic. As we were preparing for Season 2 of The Last Drive-In, we unearthed three forgotten gems that are all Halloween-themed and decided it was time for a Halloween Hootenanny. Or maybe I’m lying about that and we’re programming three iconic Halloween favorites. Or maybe we’re counter-programming with flicks that have absolutely nothing to do with Halloween. The great thing about spending October 25 with us is that, as Forrest Gump says, you never know what you’re gonna get. What we can promise is a) I will be ridiculously nerdy about horror, and b) Darcy the Mail Girl will probably disagree with me. It’s great to be back. I missed Shudder and the Shudder faithful,” said Briggs. The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs began

Carl Sundstrom’s terrifying found footage film, Documenting the Witch Path has conjured an October release date. Inspired by actual events, this film follows three young documentary filmmakers, (Nathaniel P. Erlandsson, Robin Franzen, and Carl Sundstrom). Together, they discover a path in the woods, which leads to a lake known as Witch Lake. ‘Sister Tempest’ Promises Surreal Chills, Alien Tribunals, and Cannibalistic Cravings

Writer/director Joe Badon unleashed his surreal mind-bender The God Inside My Ear in 2017, and it instantly became one of my top 10 films of that year, regardless of genre. The Louisiana filmmaker has just released the trailer for his sophomore feature Sister Tempest, and this outing looks to be equally as outré as his jaw-dropping debut. The film’s official synopsis states: “Anne Hutchinson’s troubled relationship with her missing sister is under alien tribunal. Meanwhile, her new roommate’s mysterious illness causes her to go on a cannibalistic killing spree.” The trailer promises intriguing new visions from Badon, and I’m also guessing some of the elements that made The God Inside My Ear so amazing will be in play for this film, too, including head-scratching (in the best way!) visuals, sequences that tread the fine line between nightmarish and dreamlike, a few nods to classic and obscure films from horror and other genres, and, naturally, the unexpected. Badon is also an
