Gerard Butler’s Disaster Thriller ‘Greenland’ Heading Straight To VOD

From the producer of the John Wick franchise and director Ric Roman Waugh comes Greenland, the disaster thriller starring Gerard Butler. News has come that the film, which has been delayed multiple times, is bypassing US theaters and is heading straight to premium VOD platforms this December after being a worldwide hit. From STXFilms, Greenland centers on John Garrity (Gerard Butler), his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and young son Nathan making a perilous journey to their only hope for sanctuary. Amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being leveled by the comet’s fragments, the Garrity’s experience the best and worst in humanity. Emmy Winner Anna Friel Starring In Horror Anthology Series “The Box”

Adi Hasak (“Shades of Blue”, “Eyewitness”) has teamed up with the Nordic Entertainment Group for the new supernatural anthology series “The Box”, starring Emmy-winner Anna Friel (Marcella), Deadline reports. While details are still being kept under wraps, we do know that Friel will star in the lead role of Sharon Pici, a Kansas City Police Detective who is trapped in a room that she cannot escape. We also know that the series will begin as a character-driven psychological thriller before evolving into a supernatural horror series. Hasak will serve as showrunner and has written or co-written each of the eight, 30-minute long episodes. Paula Killen, Josh Azouz, and Clare Siobhan Byrne also co-write the series. Production is set to begin in February of 2021 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Shudder Captures Russian Creature Feature ‘The Superdeep’

Shudder has captured the inspired by true events Russian creature-feature The Superdeep (aka Kolskaya Sverhglubokaya) ahead of its premiere at Sitges. The film, which looks like it’s paying homage to John Carpenter’s The Thing, was written and directed by Roman Karimov, Superdeep stars Milena Radulovic, Maksim Radugin, Nikita Dyuvbanov, and Andrey Trushin. After one provides a jump scare she receives a game recommendation, the Black Orchid Challenge, one that gets a little too real. Capitalizing on the trend of challenges and videos that involve jump scares when you are least expecting it, Black Orchid Challenge is a well-done short flick that we could see as a full-length feature adaptation. A ‘Very, Very, Rare Crime’: The Guy Murders (True Crime)

A “very, very rare crime.” That’s how the wickedness of Joel Guy Jr. was described only a few short days ago during his trial for slaughtering and dismembering his parents in their Harden Valley home. Joel Guy Jr. was convicted of two counts of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison (despite asking for a death sentence).
