In this horror-centered take on the superhero trope, a couple (Elizabeth Banks and David Denman) adopt a baby from another world. They raise the boy (Jackson A. Dunn) to use his powers for good, but an evil begins to grow within him. Written by James Gunn and Mark Gunn, Brightburn takes over theaters on May 24, 2019. Brightburn’s Timothy Williams Talks Music, Superheroes, And Much More In An Interview

While a film’s soundtrack may not be at the forefront of films, it should be. Music is the heartbeat of a film, controlling pace and emotion. Timothy Williams, a composer, has created many of those melodies heard in films such as Get Out, IT, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Deadpool 2. I sat down with Williams to talk about one of his most recent projects, creating the scores for James Gunn’s new film Brightburn, part superhero movie, part horror film. In the film, a couple (Elizabeth Banks and David Denman) adopt a baby from another world. They raise the boy (Jackson A. Dunn) to use his powers for good, but evil begins to grow within him. Written by James Gunn and Mark Gunn, Brightburn takes over theaters on May 24, 2019, from Sony Pictures. John Hillcoat’s ‘Witchfinder General’ Remake Announced At Cannes

Witchfinder General is the next genre film getting a remake. Deadline reported the news from Cannes that John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless) will be directing the new version written by Jon Croker (Woman In Black 2) with Nicholas Winding Refn (Drive, Neon Demon) serving as producer. In the 1968 original, directed by Michael Reeves and starring Vincent Price, a young soldier seeks to end the evils caused by a vicious witch hunter. I am excited to work with fellow filmmaker Nic Refn, a maverick auteur and who, together with Rupert Preston, have been fully committed to independent cinema over the years. I’m drawn to the dynamic departures behind this remake,” says Hillcoat. “The idea of a world pushed to extremes where fear preys upon all, unleashing religious fanaticism, rival factions, tribalism, heretics, and witch hunts… feels strangely familiar in today’s world.” Refn and Rupert Preston will be producing through Bynwr.com and Sunrise Film along with Hillcoat’s Blank Films. From writer-director Drew Cullingham comes Shed of the Dead, a horror comedy starring horror icons Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th franchise, Hatchet franchise), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects, Three from Hell), and Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, The Devil’s Rejects). Meet Trevor (Spencer Brown) a hen-pecked, jobless guy who spends his days hiding from his wife in a shed or playing war games (think D&D) in the basement of his buddy Grahams’ house. When Trevor learns that his neighbors have signed a petition to have his retreat leveled and to have him kicked off his allotment he is furious. Trevor finally grows some balls and confronts Mr. Parsons (Hodder) things don’t go as planned. Luckily, the zombie apocalypse is about to begin. Trevor comes across like your average loser, he refuses to take responsibility for his problems and would rather blame his wife than ask himself why she acts the way she does which makes him far from a
