Warner Bros. is currently adapting Stephen King’s novel Doctor Sleep for a full length feature film. The Novel, is a sequel to King’s  The Shining. Akiva Goldsman who wrote I Am Legend and the upcoming film Rings, and directed the series Fringe, has been tasked with penning the screenplay that features Danny (from The Shining) as an adult, working in a nursing home where he meets a group of people known as ‘The True Knot’.

King himself will be serving as executive producer along side Jon Berg and Jon Gonda who will be supervising for Warner Bros.

The novel follows a tribe of people called The True Knot, who are in search of sustenance. They look harmless – mostly old and married to their RVs. But Dan Torrance knows that The True Knot are quasi-immortal and live of the “steam” that children with the “shining” produce when they are tortured.

Still haunted by his experience at The Overlook Hotel, Dan has been drifting for decades, desperate to run away for his father’s legacy. Dan finally settles in a small New Hampshire town and finds a job at the local nursing home where his remnant “shining” power provides comfort to the dying.

Then he meets Abra Stone, who has the brightest “shining” he’s ever seen. Dan becomes entangled in a battle for Abra’s survival and her soul.

The is no word yet when the film will begin filming. We will let know know when we learn more.
