Since the moment ‘Hellboy II: The Golden Army’ was released in 2008 fans have been begging Guillermo del Toro for ‘Hellboy III’. After nine years it seemed all hope was lost, until last night when del Toro tweeted an interesting series of messages after posting a poll. Fans have been going crazy since. A sequel sounds pretty promising at this point. As of 5:13 am today, 98,757 fans have said “Yes” or “Hell, Yes” to ‘Hellboy III’ and there is still 8 hours and 34 minutes left on the pole. Go vote!
As for Ron Perlman, he has been keeping fans hopes alive all these years and has expressed that he wants nothing more to play the big red guy once again. Perlman took to Twitter and Facebook last night with excitement asking fans to vote “Hell Yes”.
While writing this I went to IMDb to double check a few things and found a page already up for ‘Hellboy III’ with Perlman and Doug Jones, who played Abe Sapien in both ‘Hellboy’ I and II, listed. Rather or not the page is authentic we do not know, but with del Toro teasing fans it does make you wonder if the film is already in the works, which we would be thrilled to see.
The ‘Hellboy’ films were written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, based on the adaption of the comic book character created by writer-artist Mike Mignola. The first film was released in 2004 and was well received by both old and new fans of the character, as was the sequel.
