The Conjuring 2, directed by genre genius James Wan, arrived in theaters this past weekend and there is already a spin-off in the works at New Line, which will be penned by Conjuring 2 writer David Leslie Johnson.
The studio revealed to EW that the spin-off will center on the story behind the terrifying nun featured in The Conjuring 2, which played a big role in the film that recounts the true story of the Enfield Poltergeist. James Wan and Peter Safran will serve as producers for the film.
The Conjuring 2’s predecessor, The Conjuring, also spawned a spin-off about Annabelle, a haunted doll. The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2 and Annabelle are all based on the real life paranormal investigations of Ed and Lorraine Warren, played in the films by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.
The Conjuring 2 is now in theaters nationwide.
