What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, fortunately CinemaCon doesn’t count. The yearly convention, happening as we speak, is yielding a ton of new entertainment news. When Sony took the stage they revealed information on several upcoming projects. During their time in front of the crowd logos flashed across a screen. One of those logos happened to be for Insidious 4. That’s right another sequel or prequel is in the works for the haunting franchise.
Last year there was talk about a possible sequel, written by Leigh Whannell, featuring the duo of Specs and Tucker (Whannell and Angus Sampson), but things may have changed since then. And Sony did not reveal any details.
“I haven’t really thought about it yet. But for he purpose of this interview, I’ll say that I’d like to explore the time between this film and the first film,” Wannell told ‘We Got This Covered’ during an interview last year. “That whole area there where Elise has rediscovered her gift, I think there is a lot of room there. We’ve kind of established Lin [Shaye] in this particular film as kind of this superhero, so that would be kind of interesting to explore.”
The franchise follows Elise (Shaye), a gifted psychic, as she tries to help rid families of the spirits plaguing them.
Personally, I would love to see a prequel that centers on Elise. I think that there is a lot of potential there. Either way, I look forward to seeing the next installment. We will update you when we know more.
