Production has already begun on Sony’s film adaption of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower. Today, it was announced that Katheryn Winnick, who plays Lagertha on The History Channel’s hit show Vikings, has signed on star along side Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey,Mad Max actress Abbey Lee, Tom Taylor and Preacher’s Jackie Earl Haley.

The Dark Tower will focus on Roland Deschain aka “The Gunslinger”, played by Elba, and his relationship with Jake (Taylor). The mysterious villain of story, the “Man in Black”, will be played by McConaughey. There is no news yet what role Winnick will play.
The Dark Tower, directed by Nikolaj Arcel, is set to debut in theaters on February 16th of next year.
