Production has begun on season two of Netflix’s hit ‘Stranger Things’. While fans eagerly await the new season, we have a little information to wet their appetite.
Earlier this month the Fan2Sea cruise held a ‘Stranger Things’ panel where actor David Harbour talked about Sean Astin’s new character. Astin will play Bob Newby, the love interest of Winona Ryder’s character Joyce.
We have Sean Astin…he’s Winina’s new boyfriend – much to the chagrin to the Chief of Police.”
Astin’s Character has been described as a “kindhearted nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Ryder) and Hooper (Harbour).” Bob currently serves as manager of the local RadioShack in Hawkins.
Four other stars have also joined the cast for the second season, Paul Reiser will play a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a “Clean-up” mission. Linnea Berthelsen will star as Roman, who is still coping with her own trauma at the hands of the Hawkins Laboratory. Sadie Sink co-star as Max, a tomboy with a complicated history. Sink previously co-stared on ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’. Dacre Montgomery, who recently starred as the red ‘Power Ranger’, will co-star as bad boy Billy, Max’s older step brother.
It has also be revealed that the season will pick up one year later. Some people in town are aware of what happened to Will and the kids, others are not. Last season Nancy’s best friend Barb was killed and the teen is having trouble dealing with the loss and feels as if everyone has forgotten about Barb and moved on with their lives.
Season one starred Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Noah Schnapp, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, and Mattew Modine. It centered on a young boy who disappeared. His family and friends set out on desperate search. The boys friends are drawn into a dark supernatural mystery involving top-secret experiments, the government, and a terrifying monster. The boys discover a mysterious little girl known only as Eleven, who has strange powers. With her help the boys and two of the adults enter a dark place known as “The Upside Down” to find the missing kid.
Matt and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines) will return for season 2 as writers, directors, and co-showrunners for the hit series. 21 Laps will be produced by 21 Laps for Netflix. Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and the Duffer brothers will serve as executive producers. The premiere date has not yet been announced for season 2.
