‘IT’ Director Signs On For Hulu’s Adaption Of Joe Hill’s ‘Lock & Key’

Back in April Hulu announced that they had an adaption of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s IDW comic, Lock & Key, in the works. Originally, Scott Derrickson (Sinister) was attached to direct the pilot for the one-hour series. Now, Deadline is reporting Derrickson has stepped away due to a scheduling conflict with his other series, Snowpiercer. Andy Muschietti will be taking Derrickson’s seat in the directors chair. Muschietti must really be a fan of the King family, after adapting Stephen King’s IT and now adapting King’s son’s (Joe Hill) comic. The series centers around three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Maine only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to obtain them. Lock & Key is from Hill, Carlton Cuse (The Strain) and IDW

‘Poltergeist’ DP Claims Tobe Hooper Wasn’t The True Director

Among a haunted sea of of awful ghost movies and terrible cgi special effects, the original Poltergeist stands out as one of the most chilling and effective horror movies of all time. It’s not piss your pants terrifying (although one scene involving a toy clown actually did nearly make seven year old me piss his pants), but the strong character work, excellent suspense, and practical effects that hold up surprisingly well make the Tobe Hooper directed flick a true standout in the genre. Well now it turns out the whole “Tobe Hooper directed” aspect is more suspect than once thought, with multiple sources, including Poltergeist’s director of photography Matthew Leonetti, claiming that executive producer (and arguably greatest living filmmaker) Steven Spielberg was the true director. In a recent interview with Blumhouse, Leonetti had this too say. “Hooper was so nice and just happy to be there. He creatively had input. Steven developed the movie, and it was his to direct,

‘Castlevania’ Review: Does Netflix Do The Series Justice?

Castlevania is one of those series that, despite consistent and stellar releases, has never reached beyond a fairly niche audience. I mean for fucks sake, there’s a damn genre of video games named after it (Metroidvania), but unless your fairly into retro gaming (or badass soundtracks) there’s a solid chance you’ve never really experienced the masterwork that these games are. While there is some variation, the basic premise is you’re a vampire hunter, often of the Belmont family, who storms Dracula’s castles with your magic whip, murdering monsters, minions, and freaks of all shapes and sizes, occasionally busting open a stone wall to eat the (most likely rotten) ham inside. For me, and I’m guessing for a lot of others, the best part about Castlevania is the monsters. From the MAN-EATER, a giant insect living inside a skull, to a mirror teleporting jester who cackles madly as he shoots lasers from his fingertips, these are some of the most creative

Movie Review: ‘Night Of Something Strange’ Is A Gross Out Tale Of Ribaldry

It’s just another night at the morgue for our custodian, Cornelius, until he feels the need to satisfy his carnal urges by way of an intimate encounter with a female corpse. But then again this may be par for the (inter) course when the morgue plays host to deceased female occupants. He may have thought that necrophilia would be the safest sex he could have, but it would result in his contracting one hellaciously nasty STD that would turn him into a zombie with an unslakable lust and desire to spread the contagion. Around this time, a group of high school kids are just about to take off on a road trip to the beach over spring break. But not too long after they hit the road, an unexpected detour sidelines them at a seedy motel well off the beaten path. While most horny high schoolers may be looking to score during such a hiatus from their classes, these kids
