Acclaimed Actors Join Mike Flanagan's Stephen King Adaptation 'Life Of Chuck'

Acclaimed Actors Join Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King Adaptation ‘Life Of Chuck’

There are two names in horror that make a perfect combination: Stephen King and Mike Flanagan. Flanagan, who has already adapted the King tales Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game, is back with a new film based on a King story. The Life of Chuck by King was featured in his If It Bleeds. The project has begun to announce its killer cast, featuring Tom Hiddleston. As always, you can expect Flanagan regulars to return alongside new cast members. Mark Hamill, who also starred in his new fantastic series “The Fall of the House of Usher,” is set to star alongside Karen Gillan, who starred in Flanagan’s breakout film Oculus. Jacob Tremblay, who appeared in Doctor Sleep, returns for the new project. Flanagan first-timer Chiwetel Ejiofor has also joined the cast. The question is, will we see the return of Flanagan’s favorite, long-time cast members Henry Thomas, Carla Gugino, Rahul Kohli, Bruce Greenwood, and Kate Siegel (who is also his wife)?

This Stephen King Adaptation Deserves A Reboot Or Remake

This Stephen King Adaptation Deserves A Reboot Or Remake

We live in a time where everything is being rebooted, remade, or reimagined. Usually, I’m against that kind of thing, but there’s one Steph King project I would actually love to see be redone, the 2002 mini-series “Rose Red.” “Rose Red,” which features three episodes, sees a college professor and a team of psychics investigate an old mansion, hoping to explain some of the mysterious deaths on the property and capture actual paranormal activity. When participants, including psychics, stay in the mansion, a terrifying force threatens to destroy them all. The cast featured some rather large names at the time, including Nancy Travis (So I Married An Ax Murder), Matt Keeslar (Scream 3), Kimberly J. Brown, who you should recognize from the Halloween classic Halloweentown, Julian Sands (Warlock), David Dukes (Gods and Monsters), and Judith Ivey, Melanie Lynskey, Matt Ross, and Kevin Tighe. First, let me say the series was great when it was released. I remember watching it when

Is Mike Flanagan Still Adapting Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower?'

Is Mike Flanagan Still Adapting Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower?’

Mike Flanagan is an expert when it comes to Stephen King adaptations, delivering chilling films like Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game. He also has a record of bringing horror fans fantastic series such as “The Haunting of Hill House.” His next King adaptation, a series based on The Dark Tower, will be a challenge. It’s been adapted before, in 2017, and was disliked by fans and critics alike. Often described as “unfilmable,” the source material is spread over eight books, featuring more than 4,000 pages, making it a challenging to fit a series format without multiple seasons. But that hasn’t detoured Flanagan, and if anyone can do it right, it’s him. With the strikes shaking up the film industry, leaving many films and series abandoned and delayed, people have begun to question if Flanagan’s “The Dark Tower” would be one of them. But Flanagan has not given up, and thankfully the strike is over. During a recent conversation with Fangoria,

James Wan Producing New Adaptation Of Stephen King’s ‘The Monkey’

There is no other author that is more prolific than Stephen King, with his works being adapted for more than eighty films and series. We can soon add another to the list. Horror heavy hitter James Wan has signed on to produce the adaptation of King’s short story The Monkey, featured in King’s 1985 collection Skeleton Crew. Osgood Perkins, behind The Blackcoat’s Daughter, is set to direct the film from the script he wrote. Divergent actor Theo James is set to lead the cast “In The Monkey, when twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them. The brothers decide to throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years. But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it takes the lives of everyone close

Movie Review: Mike Flanagan's Film Adaptation Of Stephen King's "Gerald's Game"

Movie Review: Mike Flanagan’s Film Adaptation Of Stephen King’s “Gerald’s Game”

Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game is now out on Netflix and I have some thoughts. In the film, Jessie and Gerald Burlingame are going to their secluded lake house on a weekend trip. Their marriage is strained, and their love life has turned stagnant, but Gerald has something in mind to reignite that old flame, as it were. They arrive at their home, and everything is ready: landscaping done, house cleaned and prepared, pantry and fridge are stocked. Now it’s time for a little “afternoon delight,” so Jessie puts on a new sexy slip that she bought especially for the occasion and waits for Gerald in the bedroom. He pops a little blue pill and cuffs her to the bed, and then the “game” begins. However, Jessie is not fond of the rough turn Gerald’s game takes and rebuffs his attempt to fulfill what is little more than a rape fantasy. She begs him to uncuff her,

New Doc 'King On Screen' Explores Stephen King's Legacy Of Terror

New Doc ‘King On Screen’ Explores Stephen King’s Legacy Of Terror

When it comes to authors, no one is more prolific than Stephen King, whose writings have been adapted again and again for film, including The Boogeyman, which has just premiered in theaters. A new documentary, King of Screen, from director Daphné Baiwir will explore King’s legacy of terror and the films we all love to fear. “In 1976, Brian de Palma directed Carrie, the first novel by Stephen King. Since then, more than 50 directors have adapted the master of horror’s books in more than 80 films and series, making him the most adapted author alive. What’s so fascinating about him that filmmakers cannot stop adapting his works? King on Screen reunites the filmmakers that have adapted Stephen King’s books for cinema and TV, including Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Walking Dead), Tom Holland (The Langoliers, Chucky), Mick Garris (The Stand, Sleepwalkers) and Taylor Hackford (Dolores Claiborne, Ray). It is a movie made for the fans. The

Adaptation Of Stephen King’s ‘The Boogeyman’ Stalks Theaters This June

As the temperature begins to rise, there’s no better place to escape the heat than a movie theater, and there is definitely one movie you need to check out The Boogeyman. In the film, Lester Billings talks to his psychiatrist about the “murders” of his three young children, describing the events of the past several years. His first two children died mysteriously of apparently unrelated causes (diagnosed as crib death and convulsions, respectively) when left alone in their bedrooms. The only commonalities were that the children cried, “Boogeyman!” the closet door was found ajar after discovering their corpses, even though Billings is certain the door was shut. Host and “Bite Size Horror” director Rob Savage is at the helm of the film that stars David Dastmalchian, Chris Messian, Sophie Thatcher, Marin Ireland, and Vivian Lyre Blair. Scott Beck and Mark Heyman penned the script. Based on Stephen King’s 1973 short story of the same name, The Boogeyman will open in

Leonardo DiCaprio Starring In J.J. Abrams’ Stephen King Adaptation ‘Billy Summers’

Stephen King‘s novel, Billy Summers, is getting a film adaptation with J.J. Abrams directing and Leonardo DiCaprio starring as the title character. The news came via Deadline that the script based on the book, published in 2021, is being written by Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz. “Billy Summers is a 44-year-old hitman and former U.S. Marine sniper, who only accepts jobs killing truly evil men, but now he wants to retire from the assassin life altogether. Nick Majarian, a mobster whom Billy has worked for many times before, offers him one last job–one that pays $500,000 upfront and $1.5 million after it’s done. But something doesn’t add up for Summers.” Abrams produces for Warner Bros., with DiCaprio producing for Appian Way.

Not only has The Boogeyman gone over well in test screenings, but it also has King’s approval, which is both excellent signs that we are getting a quality film. In the film, “Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her little brother find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.” Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets,” pictured) and Chris Messina (Birds of Prey) star alongside David Dastmalchian (Dune, The Suicide Squad), Vivien Lyra Blair (Bird Box, Mr. Corman), Marin Ireland (Y: The Last Man, The Umbrella Academy), and Madison Hu (Voyagers). 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy, Dan Levine & Dan Cohen are producing the film based on King’s original story, first published in 1973, before becoming part of his Night Shift collection in 1978.
