Lights Out Made Me Want To Leave The Lights On – A Spoiler Free Review

Normally, when a movie is being hailed “the best horror movie” months before its theatrical debut, I wonder two things: is the movie that good, or does it just have a lot of big names and a great PR team. ‘Lights Out’ is one of those movies. Months before it opened in theaters the buzz was that it was going to be the best horror film of 2016. But is it? Directed by David F. Sandberg and co-written by Eric Heiseerer, the film is based on the short film by the same name by Sandberg. With horror master James Wan producing the film, it had my attention from the moment it was announced (I am huge fan of Wan). Living in rural Georgia and the closest theater being over an hour’s drive away, I had to wait till ‘Lights Out’ was released on DVD to check it out. Last night, I finally had the chance to see it for myself.

Lights Out Getting A Sequel

James Wan is now one of the leading names in horror. The incredibly talented writer/director/producer is responsible for four great franchises, The Conjuring, Insidious, Annabelle (the sequel is filming now) and Saw. Now, he’s adding a fifth franchise to the list. While his latest film, Lights Out is still in theaters, it has already been granted a sequel. The supernatural thriller did great during last week’s opening weekend, grossing over $60 million globally, 12 times its budget. Lights Out, based on the short film by the same name, was penned by Eric Heisserer, who will return for the sequel, Deadline reports. David F. Sandberg will be back to direct the sequel after he wraps filming Wan’s Annabelle 2. Lawrence Gray will produce. The film centers on Rebecca, a young woman who thought she left her childhood fears behind her. Growing up, she never was really sure what was real and what wasn’t when the lights went out. Now, her little

Theo James will once again play David, Selene’s ally and the vampire Elder Thomas will be played by Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance, once again. Tobias Menzies (Outlander) will be playing a new character, a formidable Lycan. Other new cast members include Bradley James (Damien), James Faulkner (Game of Thrones), Peter Andersson (The Vatican Tapes) and newcomer Clementine Nicholson. Image: Inquisitr Anna Foerster is in the director’s chair for the fifth installment of the franchise. Foerster has directed several television shows including Outlander and Criminal Minds, but is most recognized for her talent as a cinematographer for films such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, Pitch Black and White House Down. James Wan’s Adaption Of ‘Lights Out’ Now In Post-Production

We first learned that the short film Lights Out would be adapted as a full length feature, written and directed by David F. Sandberg and produced by James Wan (The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2) back in June. The film has now entered post-production and will be released by New Line in July of 2016. In the feature film, a boy and his estranged sister are stalked by an evil entity that can only be seen when the lights are out. Lights Out will star Warm Bodies actress Teresa Palmer , Emily Alyn Lind (The Haunting in Connecticut 2), Alicia Vela-Bailey (Interstellar), Amiah Miller (Trafficked), Gabriel Bateman (Annabelle), Andi Osho (Night and Day), and Alexander DiPersia (I Am Legend). There is a bit of a difference between the plot of the short film and the feature film, but with Wan producing I have no doubt it will be great. A trailer for the full film has not yet been released, but
