Universal Studios Adds Exciting New Titles To Its Dark Universe

I am more than thrilled to be able to announce that Universal Studios has added more titles to their upcoming ‘Dark Universe’ collection. Through my life I have always been drawn to the truly tragic characters in horror…the monsters who were almost forced to become that way due to their situation – or were simply misunderstood. The top three on my monster/villain list are Frankenstein’s Monster, Quasimodo, and The Phantom of the Opera. In fact, I drew so many pictures and read so many stories about these three tragic characters that my parents legitimately started to worry. We already know that Javier Barden will be playing Frankenstein’s Monster, but I cannot hide my excitement at the announcement of ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ and ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ being added to the ground-breaking collection of redone horror films. Both have been played to perfection by the legendary Lon Chaney and his silent performances will be tough to beat, but

The Pied Piper – An Original Horror Story

One of my favorite stories growing up was a tale that my third grade teacher read to the class called “The Pied Piper of Hamelin.” The story stuck with me and I have often lamented that it is not only fairly unknown (or at least not a prominent fairy tale), but even if it is known, this gem of a tale is censored and bubble-gummed up to have a happy ending. Granted, Mrs. Kratz — my third grade librarian — read us the buttered up version where all the children are retuned happily to their home, but like most fairy tales, the original is far darker. For those who are not familiar with this horribly dark tale, it sprouts from the rat infestations during the black plague epidemic in the 1300s. The small village of Hamelin was overrun with rats and the people were all dying. A brightly dressed stranger with a flute came and offered his services of purging

Horror-Comedies Every Horror Fan Should See

Even hardcore horror fans sometimes need a break from terror. Most of us wouldn’t turn to romantic comedies for relief. For us, it’s horror-comedies that do the trick. Here are a few of the best horror-comedies out there, movies that every horror fan should see. Wolf Cop (2014) Half wolf. Half cop. He’s Wolf Cop. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010) Two buddies head to their new vacation home ( a cabin in the woods). On their way they meet a group of collage students, who are less than friendly. When one of the ladies are injured they take her back to the cabin. The students assume the worse and set out to attack Tucker and Dale to retrieve their friend and chaos ensues. I can not say this enough, I love this movie! Shaun Of The Dead (2004) When the zombie apocalypse hits two friends are on a mission to rescue Shaun’s ex girlfriend and his mom. Scary Movie
