Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes’ next film in the Friday the 13th franchise is moving forward towards its 2017 release. Aaron Guzikowski turned in the script for the film last month, according to Bloody Disgusting. The film has a new director, Breck Eisner, who is replacing David Bruckner. Eisner was the director behind The Crazies, and The Last Witch Hunter. He will also be directing Universal’s upcoming remake of The Creature From the Black Lagoon and New Line’s Escape From New York. Back in June producer Brad Fuller, stated that the film is an “origin-ish” story that delves into Jason’s backstory and is a film we haven’t seen before. Fuller made this statement back in March: “I could just say that for a long time we were stalled…” Fuller continues (during an interview with Shock Till You Drop) “…the film was going to be a found footage movie and that was a road that we went down and tried to

We’re in the latter phases of that starting over and hopefully we’re getting a script in the next month or two, and we’ll go back to Crystal Lake.” I’m very happy to hear
