Witness ‘An English Haunting’ This April

From writer-director Charlie Steeds (Escape from Cannibal Farm) and Dark Temple Motion Pictures comes the British indie horror An English Haunting, set to be released this April. “In 1960’s England, Blake Cunningham and his alcoholic mother are forced to move into the mysterious Clemonte Hall, a vast isolated manor house, to care for his dying Grandfather who resides in the attic room. Soon, ghostly goings-on fill the house with dread, as it becomes apparent Grandfather’s illness may have a supernatural cause that can only be cured by uncovering the terrifying secrets of the house and its dark history.” David Lenik, Tessa Wood, Barrington De La Roche, Emma Spurgin Hussey, Rory Wilton, and Jessica Alonso star. The film features cinematography by Michael Lloyd with an Original Score by Graham Plowman. Peter Oxley and Galen Christy serve as executive producers. Witness An English Haunting on DVD in the U.S. on April 10, 2020, followed by its U.K. release on April 27th.

‘The Lurker’ Slashes Its Way Onto DVD This April

Eric Liberacki‘s The Lurker, influenced by the Golden era of horror films, slashes its way onto DVD and Digital this April, from Indican Pictures. Scout Taylor-Compton (Halloween, 2007), Naomi Grossman (“American Horror Story”), Ari Lehman (Friday the 13th, 1980) and Adam Huss star in the film that follows several high-schoolers as they prepare a local play. A killer lurks in the shadows and the cast is in danger. With the play set to see its final curtain call, these schoolmates will need to band together, if they hope to survive this killer’s knife. Director Liberacki has talked about the film’s influences and what led him to direct The Lurker. He says of slashers: “my screenwriting always gravitated toward slasher films of that time period (the ’80s, ’90s).” This was the pivotal time for slashers and their many sequels. The official poster and new images from A24’s Saint Maud will leave you on your knees. The satanic thriller is the debut feature from Rose Glass. Described as “a chilling and boldly original vision of faith, madness, and salvation in a fallen world,” the film centers on Maud (Morfydd Clark, Love & Friendship), a newly devout hospice nurse, becomes obsessed with saving her dying patient’s soul. However, sinister forces and her own sinful past, threaten to put an end to her holy mission. BAFTA-winning actress Jennifer Ehle (The Miseducation of Cameron Post) also stars. Saint Maud, said to have the feel of films such as The Witch, Blackcoat’s Daughter, and Hereditary, will arrive in select theaters on April 1, 2020, followed by a wider release.
