Richard Bates Jr. Talks ‘Tone-Deaf’ And People Who Are Full Of Sh*t

Award-winning filmmaker Richard Bates Jr., the director behind Suburban Gothic and Excision, sat down with me to talk about his most recent film, Tone-Deaf, starring Amanda Crew and Robert Patrick. Not your average horror film, Tone-Deaf follows a woman (Crew) who goes to the countryside to spend a quiet weekend after losing her job and having her complicated relationship implode on the same day. She rents a country house from an old-fashioned widower (Patrick), who struggles to hide his psychopathic tendencies. Horror Fuel: “I enjoyed Tone-Deaf. How did the story come to be?” Richard Bates Jr.: “Well, I’ll tell ya, I was watching the news with my wife. And I asked her what scares her the most in the world right now and she turned to me blankly and said ‘Old men.’ So, I went to my little corner and started thinking about it. John Waters always told me that if you want anyone to think about anything and seriously

“Walking Dead” Star Pollyanna McIntosh Talks Darlin’ And More In An Interview

I sat down with talented actress turned director Pollyanna McIntosh to talk with her about many things, including her role on “The Walking Dead”, in The Woman and her directorial debut Darlin’ which we gave a rave review. Darlin’, the sequel to 2011’s intense horror film The Woman, centers on a young feral woman (Lauryn Canny) who finds her way into a hospital. She is whisked off to a care home run by The Bishop (Bryan Batt, AMC’s Mad Men) and his obedient nuns where she is to be tamed into a “good girl.” However, Darlin’ holds a secret darker than the “sins” she is threatened with, and she is not traveling alone. The Woman (McIntosh), equally fierce and feral, who raised her is ever-present and is determined to come for her no matter who tries to step in her way. Horror Fuel: “How has playing Jadis/Anne affected your life?” Pollyanna McIntosh: “Wow, good question. I think that being on

Actor-Director Cuyle Carvin Talks The Walking Dead, Swamp Thing And His Film Dolls

Actor turned director Cuyle Carvin has been a busy man lately between his roles on DC Universe’s “Swamp Thing”, “The Walking Dead”, and directing his haunted doll film, simply titled Dolls, which Cuyle sat down with me to discuss. In Dolls, a struggling children’s book author and his rebellious teenage daughter move into a house they’ve inherited and find mysterious dolls in the attic. They soon learn that the dolls have a sinister — and deadly — past. Thomas Downey, Trinity Simpson and genre icon Dee Wallace star in Dolls, written by Justin Hawkins and Josh Hawkins, with Jeff Miller (Ouija House, The Toybox) also contributing to the story. Horror Fuel: “Do you mind if I ask about your role of The Walking Dead? And playing a Savior?” Cuyle Carvin: “It’s my favorite show. Half of my career, especially at the start, I played a lot of bad guys. Bad guys are more fun I think. Most actors will probably

I sat down for an interview with actress Carly Turro to talk about her on the zomcom series “Bunkheads” which is now streaming on Amazon Prime. She also discussed her role in the Golden Globe-winning series “Homeland” and Blood Puppet! Christmas ’94, a new horror comedy headed your way later this year. Horror Fuel: “Tell us about you, what made you want to get into acting?” Carly Turro: “It took me a little while to figure it out. I was originally studying biology in college and thought that I wanted to go into some kind of science as a career or research, then I thought maybe med school until I made a switch into acting. I figured out that I wasn’t going to be happy or have a long sustainable career in something like medicine. It wasn’t the right fit for me. I had to go back to the drawing board and figure out what it was I wanted to

Brightburn’s Timothy Williams Talks Music, Superheroes, And Much More In An Interview

While a film’s soundtrack may not be at the forefront of films, it should be. Music is the heartbeat of a film, controlling pace and emotion. Timothy Williams, a composer, has created many of those melodies heard in films such as Get Out, IT, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Deadpool 2. I sat down with Williams to talk about one of his most recent projects, creating the scores for James Gunn’s new film Brightburn, part superhero movie, part horror film. In the film, a couple (Elizabeth Banks and David Denman) adopt a baby from another world. They raise the boy (Jackson A. Dunn) to use his powers for good, but evil begins to grow within him. Written by James Gunn and Mark Gunn, Brightburn takes over theaters on May 24, 2019, from Sony Pictures. Horror Fuel: “You’ve worked on so many amazing projects, do you have a favorite so far?” Tim Williams: “That’s a difficult question because I’ve enjoyed working
