Leigh Whannell’s ‘Upgrade’ Is Getting A Series Adaptation

Blumhouse Television and UCP, a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios, are teaming up for the series adaption of Leigh Whannell’s 2018 sci-fi, thriller Upgrade, which Whannell co-created and will direct, as well as executive produce along with showrunner Tim Walsh (Treadstone, Chicago P.D., Shooter). The series picks up a few years after the events of the film and broadens the universe with an evolved version of STEM and a new host in a world in which the government repurposes STEM to help curb criminal activity. A writer’s room has begun work on the series’ first season. Krystal Ziv Houghton and James Roland, who ran the second season of The Purge, have joined Whannell and Walsh. The film, which Whannell both wrote and directed, starred Logan Marshall-Green, Betty Gabriel, and Harrison Gilbertson. New Brutal, Badass, Blood-Soaked Trailer Arrives For Syfy’s Series BLOOD DRIVE

Ahead of its June premiere, Syfy has unleashed a new badass, brutal trailer filled with action, cars, and a lot of blood for their new series Blood Drive. Syfy and Midnight Grindhouse are teaming up for this brutal, high-octane series, set in a near-dystopian future. The show centers on a former cop, who is forced to take part in a death race in which cars run on human blood. The talented cast includes Alan Ritchson, Christina Ochoa, Thomas Dominique, Marama Corlett, Colin Cunningham, Darren Kent, Andrew Morgado, Sean Cameron Michael, Carel Nel, Brandon Auret, Aiden Whytock, and Andrew Hall. Creator James Roland (Weeds) is serving as co-executive producer along with John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening), David Straiton (Bates Motel), Frederik Malmberg (Let Me In) and Universal Cable Productions.
