IFC Midnight has unveiled the trailer for Jennifer Reeder’s visionary coming-of-age thriller Knives and Skin. “What happened to Carolyn Harper? Part suburban nightmare, part neon-soaked teenage fever dream, this tantalizing mystery traces the wave of fear and distrust that spreads across a small Midwestern town in the wake of a high school girl’s mysterious disappearance. As the loneliness and darkness lurking beneath the veneer of everyday life gradually comes to light, a collective awakening seems to overcome the town’s teenage girls—gathering in force until it can no longer be contained. Unfolding in a hallucinatory haze of lushly surreal images, Knives and Skin is a one-of-a-kind coming-of-age noir that haunts like a half-remembered dream.” Starring Kate Arrington (The Irishman, Hello I Must Be Going), Tony Fitzpatrick (Married to the Mob, Philadelphia), Tim Hopper (School of Rock, Vanilla Sky), Raven Whitley (Red Line), and Ty Olwin (Personal Shopper), Knives and Skin was produced by Brian Hieggelke and Jan Hieggelke of Newcity/Chicago Film

The backdrop of trauma colors quintessential rituals—classrooms, dances, courtship, football games—in which the teenagers experience an accelerated loss of innocence while their parents are forced to confront adulthood failures. This mystical teen noir presents coming of age as a lifelong process and examines the profound impact of grief.” Starring Kate Arrington (The Irishman, Hello I Must Be Going), Tony Fitzpatrick (Married to the Mob, Philadelphia), Tim Hopper (School of Rock, Vanilla Sky), Raven Whitley (Red Line), and
