After a successful hybrid edition in 2020, Sweden’s superb Lund Fantastic Film Festival is preparing to go the hybrid route once again this year and is currently seeking film submissions. Following is the fest’s official press announcement. Having weathered the storm of 2020 with a hybrid edition, the Lund Fantastic Film Festival is gearing up for its 27th edition. This fall, from October 30th until November 5th, the Swedish festival will go hybrid once more, with a mix of live events and virtual screenings. Special announcements and summer events will follow in the months to come but, as always, no festival can exist without the works of talented artists. With that in mind, the festival is now ready to receive your submissions and looks forward to exploring genre cinema in the broadest sense since Lund Fantastic aims to help stretch the limits of the imagination, and to reinforce the intrinsic value of imagination in films. Taiwanese horror comedy Get the Hell Out is an ultra-fast-paced romp with political messages aplenty that are relatable across international borders. It is a spectacle, to be sure, but ultimately doesn’t offer much new in the zombie comedy department. Hsiung (Megan Lai) is a government official trying to stop a chemical plant from being built literally where her beachside home is. Little does she — let alone others — know that construction of the plant will unleash a rabies virus and turn people into “idiots” — the translated word used in the film in place of zombies. After being forced out of office by rival Li (Chung-wang Wang), she manipulates a security guard she has known since childhood named Wang (Bruce Ho) into running to replace her in office, hoping to be a puppet ruler behind him. Naturally, Li has other plans for Wang, and Wang has his own reasons for doing things in office. Once the infected President enters

Sweden’s Lund Fantastic Film Festival will offer both in-cinema and digital offerings for its hybrid edition this year. The fest boasts 14 amazing feature films and 6 curated short film packages for its October 28th through November 1st run. Horror Fuel has reviewed the insane Butt Boy and I have seen the Japanese psychosexual thriller Woman of the Photographs and the French dark fantasy Jumbo, and can absolutely recommend both. The rest of the superb lineup that I haven’t yet seen has me incredibly excited. Following is the fest’s official press announcement. Lund Fantastic Film Festival — a Swedish fest presenting amazing horror, science fiction, and fantasy movies from around the globe — has scheduled a hybrid version for this year. Most screenings will be online through Spamflix with a select few in-person screenings during the fest’s October 28–November 1 run. Lund Fantastic has also debuted its poster for this year and announced its first two films. I have already seen Woman of the Photographs, and can recommend it as a hypnotic character study and psychological thriller with body horror elements and superb sound design. German chiller Sleep promises to be a gripping psychological outing, as well. The following information is from Lund Fantastic’s press releases and official announcements.
