Movie Review: Shed Of The Dead

From writer-director Drew Cullingham comes Shed of the Dead, a horror comedy starring horror icons Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th franchise, Hatchet franchise), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects, Three from Hell), and Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, The Devil’s Rejects). Meet Trevor (Spencer Brown) a hen-pecked, jobless guy who spends his days hiding from his wife in a shed or playing war games (think D&D) in the basement of his buddy Grahams’ house. When Trevor learns that his neighbors have signed a petition to have his retreat leveled and to have him kicked off his allotment he is furious. Trevor finally grows some balls and confronts Mr. Parsons (Hodder) things don’t go as planned. Luckily, the zombie apocalypse is about to begin. Trevor comes across like your average loser, he refuses to take responsibility for his problems and would rather blame his wife than ask himself why she acts the way she does which makes him far from a

Movie Review: The Hole In The Ground

Writer-director Lee Cronin takes us on a dark, paranoia-filled journey in The Hole in the Ground, starring Seána Kerslake (TV’s “Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope). Kerslake stars as Sarah, a mother moving into a new home with her young son, Chris (James Quinn Markey). As Sarah makes her way to the new house she nearly hits an old woman in the road. As she passes she notices the woman’s haggard appearance but shakes off the experience, which is the first in a series of terrifying events. It’s not long after they move in that Chris runs off into the woods behind their home. As Sarah gives chase she stumbles upon a huge sinkhole. When she looks up she sees her son at the edge. When they return home the old woman stops her and tells her that the boy is not her son. This is where things begin to go poorly for the family. Sarah is in for the fight of

Movie Review: Overlord (2018)

One of the films I’ve been most looking forward to seeing is Julius Avery’s Overlord. It’s just arrived on video on demand and last night I finally got to see it. The film opened with a scene of a fleet of ships and a squadron of planes headed to the beaches of Normandy. As a battalion of nervous soldiers sit in a plane they are given their mission, to take down a tower in a small village that’s jamming the signals of the Army. As bullets rip through the plane the men scramble to jump, though many never make a safe landing. Only a few soldiers make it and regroup. Suddenly a woman appears and after talking leads them to her village where Nazis patrol, guarding the church where the tower stands. This is the first time we really get a chance to get to know the soldiers, most importantly Boyce (Jovan Adepo) and Ford (Wyatt Russell). We also learn

Movie Review: The Girl In The Spider’s Web

The Girl in the Spider’s Web opens with two young girls sitting on the floor of their room when they are beckoned to their father’s bedroom. There he sits on the edge of his bed calling his daughters to his arms, about to commit the worst crime a father could. One daughter leaps from the window to save herself. Thankfully we are not forced to witness the disgusting act, but get the message loud and clear about the abuse the girls are faced with. Now an adult, Lisbeth Salander (Claire Foy) makes her living by in the shadows as a hired thief. She moonlights as a vigilante trying to protect women from evil men’s deeds as a form of redemption for leaving sister behind. When she takes a job to steal a program from the U.S. government it soon has her fighting for her life and will force her to face her past. Director Fede Alvarez, the same man behind
