Back in September, I reviewed the new supernatural horror The Old Ways, calling it “one of the best horror films of the year.” I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with its director, Christopher Alender to discuss not only the movie but also Muppets Haunted Mansion which his production company Soapbox Films produced that premieres on Disney+ this week. In The Old Ways, which premiered at Sitges, “Cristina, a journalist of Mexican origins, travels to the home of her ancestors in Veracruz to investigate a story involving witchcraft and healers. Once there, she is kidnapped by a group of locals who claim that she’s possessed by the devil and that she needs to be exorcised. This Halloween, Disney’s Muppets Haunted Mansion invites you in for some spooky fun. The trailer is here and we see Will Arnett invite Gonzo and Pepe the King Prawn in to spend the night, but can they survive all the frights and ghastly gouls? Through the night Gonzo and Pepe will see ghosts and their friends, as well as run into celebrities who are making a guest appearance, including Taraji P. Henson, Darren Criss, Craig Robinson, Yvette Nicole Brown, John Stamos, and more. Muppets Haunted Mansion will premiere on October 8, 2021, on Disney+.

The Muppets will soon be haunting Disney Plus! Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and the rest of their pals will star in their first-ever Halloween special, Muppets Haunted Mansion, coming exclusively to Disney Plus. All of the beloved Muppets, created by Jim Henson, will be there along with celebrities and all new music. “Muppets Haunted Mansion takes place on Halloween night, when Gonzo is challenged to spend one very daring night in the most grim-grinning place on earth: The Haunted Mansion.” The announcement came today via a video featuring Gonzo and Pepe and we couldn’t be more excited! Can’t wait till this Fall and need a Muppet fix now? The entire original 70s “Muppet Show” is now on Disney Plus as is “Muppets Now” and the 2012 movie The Muppets. Are you excited? Let us know!
