Netflix has ordered the series adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel, ‘The Haunting of Hill House’, long considered one of the best modern ghost stories written. Mike Flanagan will be in the director’s chair for the 10-episode series. He will also write and executive produce it. Referred to as a “modern reimagining”, the series has yet to be given a title. The new series was the brainchild of Amblin TV’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, according to Deadline. Both will also be executive producing the project. The Haunting of Hill House has been adapted twice before as films under the title The Haunting, first in 1963 and then again in 1999. In the 1999 version, Eleanor, Theo, and Luke decide to take part in a sleep study at a huge mansion they get more than they bargained for when Dr. Marrow tells them of the house’s ghostly past. ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil‘ will arrive on VOD on the same day as the Blu-ray and DVD release this January. You will also be able to pick up the two movie combo pack, featuring both the original film and part two. “Inviting audiences again into the lore of the spirit board, Ouija: Origins of Evil tells a terrifying new tale as the follow-up to 2014’s sleeper hit that opened at number one. ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil‘ is now in theaters nationwide. Ouija boards, even though they are sold as games, can be truly terrifying. Many believe that they are a gateway to communicating with the dead. Others believe that they are just a game by Hasbro. But, they were once much more serious. How much do you know about the “talking board”? Let me fill you in on how it came to be. Almost every one of us have used a Ouija board at least once in our lives. More than likely the first experience you had with a board was at a sleep over asking silly questions like “Who will I marry?” or “Is Elvis really dead?”. At some point you probably got spooked and swore to never use one again, I know I did. Then there are those who seek answers and communications with those beyond in a more serious note. When you watch a film, the costumes are a key element. They influence how you see a character, their environment, place and time. Without the right costumes a film would be lost. One of my favorite things is to talk to people who do different things in the film industry. I recently had the pleasure of speaking with costume designer and wardrobe stylist Lynn Falconer. You might not realize it, but you have seen her work before. She most recently designed the costumes for the upcoming film ‘Ouija 2: Origin of Evil‘, but she has been involved with so many projects. Just to name a few, ‘Oculus’, ‘Before I Wake’, ‘The Frozen Ground’, ‘Silent House’, ‘Straw Dogs’, and many others.
