Barbara Crampton Talks “Into The Dark: Culture Shock” And Issues It Raises About Immigration

Scream Queen Barabra Crampton (You’re Next, Chopping Mall, Re-Animator) and I sat down to discuss her role in “Into the Dark’s” July episode “Culture Shock”. “Culture Shock” follows a young Mexican woman in pursuit of the American Dream, who crosses illegally into the United States, only to find herself in an American nightmare. The episode also stars Martha Higareda (Altered Carbon and No Maches Frida), Richard Cabral (Mayans MC and American Crime), Shawn Ashmore (X-Men), and Creed Bratton (The Office). Horror Fuel: “First let me confess, I love Chopping Mall.” Barbara Crampton: “Oh (laughter)! Oh my god, so many people tell me that. It’s fun, right?” Horror Fuel: “It is. What’s it like to be part of such amazing classics, like Chopping Mall, Re-Animator, From Beyond?” Barbara Crampton: “Well, they’ve only become classics in the past number of years. When we made them, we were just trying to make the best movie possible that we could. You know, some of

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Jamie Lee Curtis

Well, here we are, my Little Monsters, it looks as if we’ve all managed to survive yet another Halloween. In fact it’s something that we all have in common with today’s wonderful Woman of Horror. Back in 1978, today’s lovely and talented lady survived an encounter with the “boogeyman” on Halloween night and lived to see another day. I’m speaking of course of the OG scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis. One could say that Jamie may have quite literally been born to be an actress, as she is the daughter of actress Janet Leigh and actor Tony Curtis. She may also have been somewhat predestined to hold the title as THE Scream Queen, as her own mother Janet played the ill fated Marion Crane, in what is regarded as the seminal film of the slasher sub genre of horror, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. So it may literally be in the blood. Jamie is a California girl, having been born in Santa

Is Laurie Strode Returning To Haddonfield Next ‘Halloween’?

Jamie Lee Curtis coming back to play Laurie Strode? Is this a trick or is this a treat? Well, my Little Monsters, it appears to be a huge Halloween treat, indeed. Not for this Halloween mind you, but just in time for the big screen next Halloween. On the next Halloween film’s release date of October 19th of 2018 to be exact. In a post on Twitter, which you can see below, Jamie Lee has announced that Laurie Strode is indeed returning to Haddonfield after 40 years, for one last go ’round with her big bro, Michael Myers. https://twitter.com/jamieleecurtis/status/908760232016322560 Of course this would put Halloween fans in roughly the same position that Alien fans would have been in if they made the Neill Blomkamp film with Ripley and Hicks both returning. Basically one where you have to ignore, for better or worse, that certain chapters in the franchise even exist. I was already stoked when it was announced that Jason

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Amy Steel

Hallo wieder meine Kleinen Monster (that’s “hello again my Little Monsters” to you and me, Rusty). It’s Wednesday again; August 30th of 2017 to be exact. And if you’re counting down like I am, you’ll also know that means HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis is a mere NINE DAYS AWAY (still seems like too many). That being said, I have chosen one of the guests that will be appearing as she who I have chose to highlight today. Of course you’ve likely seen the images above, so you already know this week’s wonderful Woman of Horror is Amy Steel. Amy is another type of Steel to come out of Pennsylvania, albeit not the rust belt variety. She grew up in West Chester, and around the time she began studying acting at the Westtown School is when her career began to take shape. With two summers of dramatic training under her belt, Amy joined Lionville, PA’s Barley Sheaf Players, starring in two

Scream Queen Linnea Quigley Is Taking A Walk Down BONEHILL ROAD

Director Todd Sheets is making his return to independent horror in a big way, with the werewolf film Bonehill Road. Today, Sheets announced that Scream Queen Linnea Quigley has joined the cast. Quigley has appeared in over 140 films including The Barn, Night of the Demons, Horrorvision, Phantoms, Pumpkinhead II, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4, and Silent Night, Deadly Night. But most genre fans remember her best as “Trash” (the stripping red head) from The Return of the Living Dead. I am simply overwhelmed that Linneas has decided to join us on Bonehill Road. I have known her for many years and we have always hoped to do a film together. It looks like that is finally going to happen.” Sheets told us. “My mentor is David Decoteau. He gave me my start, and believed in a crazy kid in Missouri when no one else would give me the chance. He also worked with Linnea several times early in

An Interview With Scream Queen Tiffany Shepis

I had the opportunity to interview talented actress Tiffany Shepis, who you will recognize from both film and television. Not only did we discuss the genre in general, she gave me insight into her roles from the past and present. Check it out. Horror Fuel: “What made you want to become an actress?” Shepis: “I didn’t really want to become an actress, not that I had anything against it. I was young kid in New York, I didn’t have any family members that were in the business, so it wasn’t something that even seemed possible to me. I was reading a friend’s newspaper at school, they were a Broadway actor-kid, and there was an add for Troma. Troma was making a film called Tromeo and Juliet, and they were looking for extras. I was like ‘Oh my God! I love that company! I watch their movies all the time!’ So, I cut school and went to the audition and low-and-behold,

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Heather Langencamp

Here we are on another Woman Crush Wednesday, my Little Monsters, and today’s wonderful Woman of Horror, as you can plainly see, is Heather Langencamp. Heather is an Oklahoma native, born and raised in Tulsa. She attended Holland Hall School in Tulsa, but would move to Washington D.C. where she would attend and graduate from The National School for Girls. When Heather began acting, it took three attempts to make her debut. Her first try came in 1983 as an extra in Francis Ford Coppola’s big screen adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s novel, The Outsiders. Unfortunately her scene found its way to the cutting room floor. That same year she would be cast as an extra in yet another Coppola adaptation of an S.E. Hinton novel entitled Rumble Fish. And even though she actually had a speaking part this time, her contribution would go unseen and unheard, as it again ended up on the cutting room floor. The upside to this

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Linnea Quigley

It’s often said that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. But there just happens to be one woman who is trash and treasure all in one, and her name is Linnea Quigley. Now when I speak of her as “Trash“, my Little Monsters, I am obviously speaking of her iconic character from the 1985 classic, Return of the Living Dead. In the late 70’s, after graduating from high school in Davenport, IA, Linea and her family relocated to Los Angeles. She began working at a health spa owned by Jack Lalane...yes, the Jack Lalane from the juicer infomercials who swam while handcuffed and shackled and also towing 70 rowboats behind him at the age of 70. But this is about Linea, so let’s not get side tracked… like I just did. Anyways, while working at this spa, Linnea met models who were employed as extras on films. Friends began suggesting to Linnea that she should try acting, and luckily

“Women In Horror Month” Spotlight: Jamie Lee Curtis

The whole month of February we will be celebrating the incredible ‘Women Of Horror’. We will be shinning a spotlight on a different woman everyday that has made an impact on the world of horror. Today, February 2, 2015, we honor an original ‘Scream Queen’ Jamie Lee Curtis. Even though Jamie Lee Curtis made her first appearance in the TV show ‘The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries’ in 1977 her first outstanding role was in ‘Halloween’ in 1978. Curtis was cast as Laurie Strode, the younger sister of notorious slasher Michael Myers. In 1980 Curtis stared as ‘Elizabeth Solley’ in ‘The Fog. That same year Curtis went on to play the role of Kim in ‘Prom Night’, but she always returned to ‘Halloween’. Curtis returned as Laurie Strode in the 1981 ‘Halloween II’ and again in 1982 for ‘Halloween III’ and yet again in 1998 for ‘Halloween H2O’. Curtis’ last role as Laurie Strode came in 2002 in ‘Halloween: Resurrection’, proving
