Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Neve Campbell

Welcome back my Little Monsters. If it’s Wednesday, you all know it’s time to show a little love to one of our wonderful Women of Horror. This week’s lovely and talented lady, Neve Campbell, is a twofold scream queen…I shouldn’t have to explain what that means. Neve is a product of our neighbors to the north, having been born in Guelph, Ontario. One could say that the desire to perform was in her blood from the start. Her father was a high school drama teacher and her grandparents on both sides were involved in the theater. Neve’s first love was dance, and after seeing a performance of The Nutcracker at the age of six, she enrolled at Erinvale School of Dance to pursue her love of ballet. She would eventually study at the National Ballet School of Canada, where she would perform in Sleeping Beauty and the ballet that initially got her hooked, The Nutcracker. Unfortunately, Neve endured numerous injuries

Sony Conjures 10 Cloverfield Lane’s Daniel Casey To Rewrite The Craft

Nearly one year ago, we reported that after 20 years Leigh Janiak would be delivering a sequel to the cult favorite, The Craft. Now, we have learned, via Tracking Board, that Sony has brought in Daniel Casey (10 Cloverfield Lane) to re-write Janiak and Phil Graziadei’s script for the film which was going to follow a new group of young witches discovering magic. There is no word yet if the plot will be the same or if Casey’s version will be something all-together different. The 1996 film, directed by Andrew Fleming, follows Sarah (Robin Tunney), a teenage girl new in town. At her new school she finds a new group of friends, a trio of outcast girls, played by Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell and Rachel True, who practice witchcraft. With Sarah’s natural witchy talent, the girls are able to actually cast spells and curses against those who have wronged them.

The Craft’s Upcoming Remake Isn’t A Remake After All

This week marks the 20th anniversary of The Craft and it has been a while since there has been any news about the remake. New came yesterday that it won’t be a remake after all. Douglas Wick, the new film’s producer, told HitFix that the film is actually a sequel that picks up 20 years later. I wouldn’t say that we wouldn’t so much call it a remake as a ‘twenty years later’. There will be callbacks to the original movie, so you will see there is a connection between what happened in the days of ‘The Craft,’ and how these young women came across the magic many years later.’ Wick stated. Wick also discussed the vision that Phil Graziadei and co-writer and director Leigh Janiak have in store. Here are some young women who once again discover the power of magic, and we explore their emotional lives, their wants, their fears, their longings, as they become empowered. So you

Witchcraft Can’t Save The Craft From Being Remade

Back in May we reported that Sony had ordered the remake of 1996’s The Craft. News has come via THR that Leigh Janiak has been hired to both direct and pen the new script, along side Phil Raziadei. Doug Wick will be returning as a producer. There is no word yet who will star in the remake. Director Andrew Fleming and writer Peter Filardi did an amazing job on the original film. Robin Tunney (The Mentalist), Neve Campbell (Scream), Fairuza Balk (The Waterboy), Rachel True (Social Nightmare), Skeet Ulrich (Scream) and Christine Taylor (Tropic Thunder) made up the perfect cast for the film. I bind you Sony, from doing harm, harm against others and harm against the original movie.

Even Witchcraft Can’t Save ‘The Craft’ From Being Remade

When I started going through all the news about horror this morning I was shocked, saddened and infuriated to see that ‘The Craft’ has now been added to the very long list of movies set to get remade over the next two years. That’s right, Sony has ordered the remake of ‘The Craft’. (*Facepalm) Leigh Janiak, the writer of 2014’s ‘Honeymoon’, has been tasked with writing the script for the new version of the teenage witch thriller, along with Phil Graziadei who also co-wrote ‘Honeymoon’. The director and cast have yet to be announced for the project. The remake is still in the early phases of preproduction and does not have a release date at this time. I remember the first time I saw the 1996 teenage witch movie ‘The Craft’. The movie was fantastic, it put a spell on me. I must have watched that VHS a hundred time before my VCR ate it. To this day ‘The Craft’
