Finally, The Debate Over The Nightmare Before Christmas Is Settled

Tim Burton’s 1993 film ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ has long been the subject of debate among fans who have tried to figure out if the stop-motion film is a Halloween movie or if it’s actually a Christmas movie. Finally we have the answer from the film’s director himself, Henry Selick. During a Q&A during the Telluride Horror Show Film Festival a young girl asked which holiday ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ truly belongs to. Selick’s answer, the classic is a Halloween movie. Geena Davis Hopes To Join Beetlejuice 2

Geena Davis, the actress who played the role of the newly-departed Barbra in ‘Beetlejuice’, told ETonline that she would love to return for the upcoming sequel Beetlejuice 2. “I did hear that it’s really happening.” Davis continued “No one’s talked to me about it. I would love to! That was one of my favorite movies, too.” Davis did bring up one problem that could keep her character and her character’s husband, played by Alec Baldwin, from reprising their rules. “Ghosts probably don’t age, and it’s going to be 30 years now. Of course, I haven’t aged, but I think Alec Baldwin maybe has ages, perhaps,” she joked. Winona Ryder confirmed last month that a sequel is indeed in the works. Tim Burton, Ryder and Michael Keaton, Beetlejuice himself, have already signed up to return for the project. “It’s Showtime!”

Cynema: Ed Wood–Hollywood’s Whipping Boy

No Respect Apparently Michael Medved, the respected film critic gets the credit with dubbing Edward Wood, Jr. the “worst director of all time” by referring to Wood’s crowning film achievement, Plan Nine From Outer Space as perhaps the worst motion picture ever made. This is not only to come to the late Mr. Wood’s defense, but to also show how off the mark Mr. Medved was in his 1980 book The Golden Turkey Awards. Wood is the antithesis of Cynema–his passion and love for film makes him one of Hollywood’s greatest directors. Say what you want about Plan Nine, Bride of the Monster or Glen or Glenda…bad films, yes. Bad directing, absolutely. However Ed Wood was not a cynic. ‘BeetleJuice 2’ Will Soon Begin Filming

Earlier this year, we reported that there was word circulating that a sequel to ‘Beetlejuice’ was possibly coming. We have now concrete news, thanks to an interview by Entertainment Weekly with Seth Grahame-Smith. Smith confirmed that he is indeed writing the script for ‘Beetlejuice 2’, as well as producing. Smith also wrote the script for ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ and is serving as producer for the new ‘Gremlins’ movie and the ‘IT’ remake. “I’ve emailed with Michael Keaton. I know he’s excited about the idea. I know Tim is excited about the idead. Where it stands now is Tim’s got to get ready to make ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ and then hopefully we are set, deals are done, and we’re waiting in the wings ready to go right after ‘Peregrine’s’ wraps up.
