Game Review: ‘Pillars Of Eternity II: Deadfire Ultimate Edition’

When it comes to traditional RPG games, I’m a noob…still. Does not mean I’m not afraid to throw myself into one and see where it leads to, thanks to Obsidian Entertainment and Versus Evil I was able to try out the upcoming console release of their award-winning game Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, or in this case it’s known as Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Ultimate Edition. ‘YAGA’ Brings The Fun And Old Tales!

I enjoy folklore outside North America, so I was stoked when Versus Evil and Breadcrumbs Interactive allowed me to play their action RPG that revolves entirely around Slavic Mythology, YAGA. YAGA revolves around the tale of Ivan, a blacksmith that’s unlucky, and missing a hand because of it! Ivan is tasked with quests from the Tsar that will take him into the wilderness where he encounters bandits and mythological creatures as he smashes his way through them to achieve greatness, as well as looking for a wife (to quiet his Grandmother). As all this happens, Baba Yaga watches from beyond, influencing Ivan’s journey. The controls of the game are simple and easy to learn as there are not many buttons used in the game. Ivan’s main weapon is a hammer which not only can be used to strike enemies but can be thrown like Thor’s hammer and strike foes at a distance before spinning right back to him. You can

The Tzar has given Ivan a task that will lead him to face all sorts of mythological creatures and legendary figures of Slavic Folklore, all the while the infamous Baba Yaga monitors Ivan’s fate. Gameplay is never the same twice as the map always changes, encounters with characters and monsters are random, and choices players make for Ivan can affect the outcome of events as well as what items he can forge with supplies he collects from the world around him multiple ways, and if you’re wondering, yes, there are multiple endings! The hand-drawn epic adventure YAGA will be coming out on November 12th on
