How many times have we heard a horror film advertised as “scary as hell” or “the scariest film in decades”? Well, this time, the hype might actually be true.
At Sundance, the horror film Hereditary, the feature debut from writer-director Ari Aster, premiered and it is getting a lot of buzz. Many are taking to social media stating it is the scariest film they’ve ever seen. And when I say a lot of people, I really mean a crapload of people.
So, what is the film about? It starts when Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away and her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited.
Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff, Ann Dowd, Zachary Arthur, Ann Dowd, and Milly Shapiro star.
Hereditary is set to be released on June 8, 2018, from A24. The brand new trailer teases the darkness and terror that await viewers and we couldn’t be more excited.
