Matt Kurtz’s ‘The Rotting Within’ Is A Clinic Of Horror And Storytelling

Characters Author Matt Kurtz has a way of making his characters seem like real people. Their reactions to being scared, uncomfortable, stressed traumatized and healing are all so realistic and well done that there is genuine empathy and sympathy for the characters in his story. I really felt more attached to Kurtz’s characters than I expected. Usually I am sympathetic to people in stories, but I am also keenly aware that they are fictional characters…this was not the case in The Rotting Within. The characters in this story feel as through they went through actual trauma, not just clichés of reactions to trauma. Kurtz has explored realistic and heavy emotion that fades the suspension of disbelief. Plot As heavy and atmospherically terrifying this book is, it is a fast-paced, deep story. Filming For Mike Flanagan’s ‘The Midnight Club’ Series Has Begun

Mike Flanagan, the brilliant filmmaker behind Doctor Sleep, Gerald’s Game, and Netflix’s “Haunting of Hill House” is back with his new Netflix series adaptation of Christopher Pike’s 1994 novel The Midnight Club with co-creator Leah Fong. Flanagan announced earlier this week on Twitter that filming is officially underway with him directing several episodes as well as executive producing along with Intrepid Pictures’ Trevor Macy. Flanagan has stated that the series focuses on a club of terminally ill young adults who gather together at midnight to tell scary stories and make a pact that whichever of them dies first will contact the others from beyond the grave. Amityville Horror Killer Ronald DeFeo Jr. Dead At 69

Ronald Defeo Jr., the man who murdered his parents and four siblings, in the house at 112 Ocean Avenue, and inspiring the novel and movie The Amityville Horror is dead at the age of 69. Defeo died in the Sullivan Correctional Facility while serving six life sentences. On Wednesday, November 13, 1974, 23-year-old DeFeo entered a local bar and in a panic revealed that his entire family had been slain. It did not take long for him to be arrested and charged. When police entered the house they found a shocking scene, each family member lay dead in their beds, each from a gunshot wound received while they slept. The children, aging from 9 to 18, were the most heartbreaking sight. During his trial, DeFeo claimed insanity and that voices made him do it. While he admitted to being on LSD and other drugs at the time of the murders, the court deemed him sane and fit to stand trial.

Showtime Sinks Its Teeth Into A New Series Inspired ‘Let The Right One In’

2008’s Let the Right One In is on every must-see list for horror fans. Now, the Swedish film is getting a loose series adaptation from Showtime, Variety reports. Genre staple Demián Birchir, who you’ll recognize from The Nun, The Grudge (2020), Alien Covenant, or Godzilla vs Kong, is set to star in the vampire series. “The series centers on Mark (Bichir), a father and his 12-year-old daughter, Eleanor, whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire.
