The award winning short horror film, ‘A Knock at the Door’ was written, directed and produced by Katrina Rennells, Wendie Weldon and Kelley Mack, a group of women that you are going to want to keep an eye out for. I see great things in their future.

Women are often the unsung heroes of the genre, both in front of and behind the camera. We here at Horror Fuel are always eager to celebrate the women of horror.

Today, we are proud to announce that on Thursday, November the 10th, their short film, ‘A Knock at the Door’, will make its New York debut at the 14th annual NYC Horror Film Festival.

‘A Knock at the Door’ was written and directed by Katrina Rennells and Wendie Weldon. Kelley Mack both serves as producer and co-stars in the film alongside David Sullivan and Drew Jenkins. Rennells, Weldon and Jenkins co-produced.

From the Press Release:

NEW YORK CITY – November 7, 2016 – A Knock at the Door, a thriller short film, will make its New York debut on opening night of the 14th Annual NYC Horror Film Festival. It screens at Cinépolis Chelsea on Thursday, November 10th at 7:00pm, along with Abbatoir and When
Susurrus Stirs. It stars David Sullivan (Argo, Primer, Flaked), Drew Jenkins, and Kelley Mack (The Elephant Garden, The Last Room). A Knock at the Door is, at it’s core, a chilling and self-reflective exploration of trust that avoids the blood and gore typical of the genre. It has been described as a cross between popular horror flicks Invasion of the Body Snatchers and It Follows. The female directing/writing duo, Katrina Rennells and Wendie Weldon, would agree. Despite this being their first time working together, they “saw eye-to-eye on almost everything. We’d wanted to direct for a while, and to have each other’s back through the first-time directing process was cool.”Kelley Mack, the main producer of the film, is proud of the team that’s come together. One of the lead actors, David Sullivan, was in the Oscar-nominated Argo, their composer, Ryan Stratton, did original music for Hum, a Student Oscar-nominated short, and their final colorist, Rick Dalby, is known for his work on Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Wonder Years and more.
A Knock at the Door recently won the Jury Choice Award at the Atlanta Horror Film Festival, and the NYC Horror Film Festival is hosting the film’s last public screening of the year. It will be playing again in early 2017. Details will be announced on their website, listed below, in the coming
months. The Cinépolis Chelsea is located at 260 W 23rd St, New York, NY 10011. The full schedule and tickets can be found here.
