333 Productions has kicked off their campaign for the short horror film The Elsewhere. The Elsewhere tells the story of Emma (Shanda Renee), a struggling writer who begins her day by receiving incredible news about her latest story. Upon hearing the incredible news, her sister Sharon throws an impromptu celebration party for her later that night. Soon after arriving, Emma runs into an ex-boyfriend, Brad, who shows up uninvited and reminding her why they are no longer dating. At the height of the party, Emma is approached by a suave film executive, Steven, who appears to have ulterior motives for attending, but before his true intentions are known, their conversation is interrupted by a mysterious young woman named Jasmine. The party lasts well into the night with Emma being the center of attention for each of these individuals. The next morning finds Emma alone in her bedroom unable to speak or hear. Following its premiere at the Monaco International Film Festival, a new teaser has arrived for Dear Guest, a Twilight Zone-esque short film. In the film, “a couple checks into a vacation rental, only to find that the anonymous host likes to play games on its guests. ” The throwback short film stars Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism) and Noureen DeWulf (Good Girls) as a couple who soon regrets renting this picturesque home for their long-awaited vacation. Megan Freels Johnston (interview), best known for her suburban nightmare The Ice Cream Truck and her break up film noir Rebound directed the short film between feature projects. With all the makings of a modern-day Hitchcock film, Dear Guest will play the festival circuit for all of 2020. Johnston though has alluded that this short could evolve into a feature. Dear Guest was produced by Freels Johnston, Michael May (Auto/Biography), and Bill Whirity (Prey). Check out the new teaser trailer.

Jacob Chase‘s short horror film Larry is now being adapted for a feature film titled Come Play, starring Gillian Jacobs (“Community”) and John Gallagher Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane). The film has just received a July release date. “Come Play stars Azhy Robertson, as a lonely young boy who feels different from everyone else. Desperate for a friend, he seeks solace and refuge in his ever-present cell phone and tablet. When a mysterious creature uses the boy’s devices against him to break into our world, his parents must fight to save their son from the monster beyond the screen.” Produced by Amblin, Come Play is set to be released on July 24th from Focus Features. Filmmaker BJ McDonnell (Hatchet III) is bringing horror and Metal to life with Slayer: The Repentless Killogy. Featuring a skull-crushing soundtrack by metal legends Slayer, the film will screen world-wide at theaters for one-night-only this November, from Trafalgar Releasing. But wait, that’s not all, immediately following Slayer: The Repentless Killogy, fans will be able to watch the entire Slayer concert filmed at their August 5, 2017 concert in Los Angeles as well as a cinema-exclusive welcome from the band captured during the South American leg of their Final World Tour. Hammer Legend, Veronica Carlson (Dracula Has Risen from the Grave, Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, and The Horror of Frankenstein) has signed on to star as Dr. Whittingham in Anthony Calvitti‘s new film, Night of the Devil. She is joined by an outstanding cast that already includes Lauren LaVera (Terrifier 2, Clinton Road), Rachel Keefe (Vessel, Watchtower), George Williams (Dahmer on Dahmer: A Serial Killer Speaks, How to Get Away with Murder), and Richard Lyntton (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Creed). In addition to the cast, there are some other incredible attachments to this short film which includes Illustrator Graham Humphreys (Drawing Blood: 30 Years Of Horror Art), and a soundtrack that features authentic sounds of 1970’s hard rock with music by Cactus and Black Sabbath. Set in 1978, the film centers on four teens who enter the woods the night before Halloween and come face to face with the Devil.

Horror heavy hitters James Wan (The Conjuring Franchise) and Sam Raimi (Evil Dead franchise) have joined forces for the feature film adaptation of the Dutch short film The Burden, from director Nico van den Brink, Deadline reports. The rights to the short film were snatched up last night by JS Entertainment, Starlight Media, along with Wan’s Atomic Monster and Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures who will produce the feature. “The short centers on a young woman visiting her boyfriend’s family home. There, she learns about a sinister history with his creepy neighbor and soon, all kinds of skeletons come out of the closet.” Romel Adam acquired the film for Ghost House and will oversee along with Judson Scott for Atomic Monster. Van den Brink’s other short horror film Sweet Tooth is getting an adaptation from Atomic Monster and New Line.

While the battle over Friday the 13th between the film’s writer Victor Miller and the director Sean Cunningham, fans of the franchise won’t be getting a sequel for a while. Luckily, Jason Vorhees is still alive and well in the world of fan films. Earlier this month the YouTube channel Radical Talent released a movie horror fans have been itching to see, Michael vs Jason: Evil Emerges. The 30-minute long film is a family affair with Luke Pedder writing and directing, John Pedder playing Michael Myers, and Joshua Pedder co-starring as Jason Vorhees. Fright-Rags has explored sour ground to unearth new merchandise from Pet Sematary, Night of the Living Dead, and Die Hard. Dead is better with Fright-Rags‘ Pet Sematary collection. From little Gage and Church the cat to Victor Pascow and Zelda, all of the nightmarish imagery from the 1989 Stephen King adaptation is represented on four new T-shirts.
