Kat Threlkeld, who won best director at Mostra Amazona Cinema Festival in Brazil this year for her short film, Seiren, is already getting a lot of attention. In fact, the mermaid-horror was also featured at this year’s Blood in the Snow Festival. It’s great to see another talented female director in the horror genre, we have so few in comparison with the number of male directors. I’ve been following Seiren for a while now. I was very excited to finally be able to see it last night and it did not disappoint. It began with a model on the beach, during a photo shoot. Soon she moves into the water for her next pose. Suddenly she screams, she’s bitten by something, what it was, she did not see. After returning home she falls ill and strange behavior over takes her. I won’t say any more about the plot, I would not want to spoil it for you. We see few

Michael Kehoe is the writer/director of ‘Hush’, a short film that is taking film festivals by storm. Every time I check my Twitter feed or talk with Michael there is a new update and another award. I’ve never seen anything like it. The last time I caught up with Michael, ‘Hush’ was still touring film festivals and continuing to rack up awards, thirty-two of them at last count. ‘Hush’ truly is fantastic and knowing that there will be a full length film has me really excited. You see, the short is actually one scene from the full length film. ‘Hush’ has been so well received, just imagine how amazing the full length film will be. I should also mention that ‘Hush’ has an all female cast, starring Riley Connor, Alexandra Grace and Kira Halling. . Michael is not new to the film industry, he’s worked on films such as ‘Star Trek (2009)’, ‘Star Trek: Into the Darkness’ and ‘Mission Impossible’.

Japanese filmmaker Takahide Hori aka Yamiken has spent the past four years making a stop-motion short film in his spare time. The 30 minute film was made with no outside funding or help. The film, titled ‘Junk Head 1’ is dark and absolutely incredible. If you’re wondering about the “1” in the title, Yamiken plans for it to be the first of a series. He hopes that ‘Junk Head 1’ will help him secure funding for the next film. ‘Junk Head 1’ follows an explorer in search of a sample of DNA belonging to a race of creatures created to do manual labor for a race of human like beings. The creatures live deep in the subterranean world. As the explorer descends things go very wrong. It blows my mind that one man created such a rich, well made, interesting film. ‘Junk Head 1’ has a distinctly unique feel. The film’s dark dingy hallways and nightmarish creatures make the film

‘Waterborne’, an Australian short film tells the story of a ranger, who is out testing the water supply of a small Australian town. The ranger is forced to stop his truck on an empty dark road, to keep from hitting a kangaroo in his path. Suddenly the ranger is under attack by a crazed beast that is carrying a deadly zombie virus. This award winning 2014 short film was written by Richard Barcaricchio and Ryan Coonan, who also directed the film. The cast includes Chris Bland, Martin Blum and Don Bridges. ‘Waterborne’ is a nice short film with a unique idea. The special effects were nicely executed and the cast played their parts well. Personally, I would like to see ‘Waterborne’ as a full length feature. Be sure to follow ‘Waterborne’ on Twitter and visit their website waterbornemovie.com . https://vimeo.com/130401504
