Japanese filmmaker Takahide Hori aka Yamiken has spent the past four years making a stop-motion short film in his spare time. The 30 minute film was made with no outside funding or help. The film, titled ‘Junk Head 1’ is dark and absolutely incredible. If you’re wondering about the “1” in the title, Yamiken plans for it to be the first of a series. He hopes that ‘Junk Head 1’ will help him secure funding for the next film.
‘Junk Head 1’ follows an explorer in search of a sample of DNA belonging to a race of creatures created to do manual labor for a race of human like beings. The creatures live deep in the subterranean world. As the explorer descends things go very wrong.
It blows my mind that one man created such a rich, well made, interesting film. ‘Junk Head 1’ has a distinctly unique feel. The film’s dark dingy hallways and nightmarish creatures make the film a perfect addition to the horror genre.
