GUNN MEDIA Discusses ‘FRIDAY THE 13TH” Single Player Mode

The Friday the 13th Videogame has been a popular multiplayer game for over a month now, but those who prefer to game alone have so far been left out. Well never fear single player aficionados, because Gun Media, the developers behind Friday the 13th, have a single player mode set to release later this summer, and we just got our first glimpse of what it will entail. While no gameplay footage has yet emerged, Gun Media developers Wes Keltner gave a tease today on twitter. “Think about the game like a film: Multi-player starts at reel 4. Eeveryone knows Jason is there. Single-player starts at reel 1. All victims have no idea.” What this implies is that the single player mode of Friday the 13th will be a stealth game, or at least more heavily focused around stealth than the online free-for-all component. Is ‘The Mummy’ As Bad As Everyone Says?

Yes. Yes it is. ………But I think its worth watching anyway, as a lesson in how not to make a horror movie, if nothing else. Studio horror rightfully gets a lot of shit, and The Mummy might just be the perfect example of a production studio that doesn’t have a fucking clue what horror fans want. But what this disaster-piece really does is show how little faith studios have in horror at all. Despite films like The Conjuring grossing over $300 Million dollars, film producers still don’t believe horror has the drawing power that more traditional Blockbuster and action films do. So rather than anything close to a horror movie, The Mummy is instead a big budget Tom Cruise action film, the start of a cinematic universe no less (on a related note, has anyone outside of Marvel even come close to a halfway watchable cinematic universe?) Take A Ride Down ‘Lost Gully Road’ In It’s First Teaser

For fans of a horror down under, Lost Gully Road, the new Austrailan Supernatural Thriller from Johnny Ghost director Donna McRae might be just what it takes to scratch that Aussie itch, with the first teaser dropping onto Youtube. And teaser is the right word for it, because this little trailer doesn’t tell you jack shit about the movie. Not that going into a movie knowing jack shit about it is necessarily a bad thing. Nothing ruins a good twisty movie like spoiling the hell out of it in the marketing. ISLAMIC EXORCIST Puts A New Spin On A Classic Genre

Islamic Exorcist is exactly what it sounds like; The Exorcist, just with Islam. Given The Exorcist is one of the best horror movies ever made however, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. And Islam can stand toe to toe with any other religion as far as scary ass demons go. Ever heard of Zaccoum? It’s basically a tree, except with more decapitated heads. Based on a true story (because what good exorcism movie isn’t?), Islamic Exorcist is directed by Faisal Saif, who actually received death threats while filming. From the mouth of the man himself, “I got lots of life threats from the Muslim and Shia Muslim community to not to make this film or if already made, not to showcase it anywhere.” Damn. With that much horror just behind the scenes, the full film itself must be terrifying.

Creepy New Trailer for VALLEY OF DITCHES Drops

It’s said that everything’s bigger in Texas, but the stripped down new trailer for Valley of Ditches manages to deliver the horror with nothing but two great actors and a dusty mountain top. Starring Amanda Todisco as a woman left to die in an open grave and Russel Bradley Fenton as the man who left her there, Valley of the Ditches looks to be an interesting take on a tale as old as cinema. I’m always a sucker for a good dramatic dialogue, and Fenton’s discussion in the trailer of murdering his brother (and why it felt so right) is enough to give the sturdiest of spines a chill. Director Christopher James Lang, a well known producer behind several of your favorite true crime and paranormal tv shows, might just be delivering his magnum opus. And for everyone that hates the desert as much as I do, this just might be the scariest indie film released this year. Valley of

Hear Robert Englund Voice an Iconic Batman Character in Injustice 2

If you want to add some credibility to your fighting game character, having Freddy Krueger voice him isn’t a bad way to do it. And on that happy note, Netherrealm Studio’s has decided to throw horror fans a bone, with the iconic Batman villain Scarecrow being voiced by the one and only Robert England in their upcoming DC fighting game, Injustice 2. Shown here in a new trailer, titled It‘s Good To Be Bad, Scarecrow might fight with a bladed chain rather than a clawed glove, but Fred’s penchant for nightmares and horrifying alternate realities is kept intact. While the trailer doesn’t show a whole lot of Scarecrow, England’s unmistakable voice rings through; and with unique opening dialogue for every combatant, Rob will be getting a lot to jabber on about. And no, while this isn’t quite as awesome as Freddy Krueger vs Batman, it might just be the next best thing.

Movie Review: Final Girl (2015)

This morning I sat down to watch a movie that I had heard good things about, Final Girl. The film, directed by Tyler Shields, opened with a young girl sitting across a table from a stranger (Wes Bentley). During their conversation the man asks the girl a series of questions, gauging her answers to see if she is the girl he’s looking for. It’s revealed during the questioning that both of the girl’s parents are dead. He asks if she wants to come with him, so that he can train her. Her response? “Can I have ice cream?” Maybe it’s just me, but I would be asking a few more questions. In the next scene we see him teaching Veronica (Abigail Breslin) to fight. Her mission is assigned, take down a ring of killer friends, who like to hunt down blonde girls for fun. Of course, she sets it up where she happens to catch their attention. The leader of

“Evil Souls” Horror Movie Review

“Evil Souls” is a 2015 horror film that was directed by Maurizio del Piccolo and Roberto del Piccolo. They both worked on another horror movie back in 2011 called “The Hounds”. The antagonist of “Evil Souls” is named Valentine who is played by Peter Cosgrove. He is known for the recent film “Grainne Uaile” and the two upcoming movies “Dalriata’s King” and “Wonderland”. The protagonist of the film is named Father Albert played by Julian Boote who is known for his parts in The Killing Zone, Dead Room and Mesocafé. The movie is working with a low budget but the practical effects are great considering that fact. “Evil Souls” relies on what the new French wave of horror has popularized and that’s what I supposed is referred to as “disturbing” or “shock gore”. Some of the shock scenes in this film were reminiscent of one of my favorite movies of all time: “Martyrs”. “Evil Souls” has a way lower budget

The Deep by Michaelbrent Collings

The Deep by Michaelbrent Collings is an interesting book. Typically when I think of sea monsters, or dangers in the ocean, my immediate thought is Jaws. This book takes that same, deeply rooted fear of both the unknown and the creatures which might dwell there, and exploits them. Initially readers aren’t quite sure of what is going on. The initial chapter hooks you in, while the remaining content provides content and further draws you into the story. (No fishing puns were intended in the writing of this review… But reading back over it, several appear. I apologize in advance.) Baskin Finally Gets A U.S. Release Date

We’ve all been waiting for the for the release date to be announced for the Turkish film Baskin. News comes via Dread Central that Baskin will open at The IFC Center in New York on March 25th and at the Los Angeles Arena Cinema on April 1st. Baskin, which is Turkish for “police raid”, will be available on VOD on March 25th. Baskin, directed and co-written by Can Evernol, along with Ogulcan Eren Akay, stars Gorken Kasal, Ergun Kuyucu, Mehmet Cerrahogulu, Sabahettin Yakut, Muharrem Bayrak and Mehmet Faith Dokgoz. In the film 5 police officers on night patrol arrive at a creepy backwater town in the middle of nowhere after a call comes in for backup. After entering the building they realize that they have stumbled into hell. Things grow worse for the officers as they descend into an ever-increasing nightmarish netherworld where grotesque creatures and hellish torture await them.
