Wal-Mart Renames Deathgasm

When did stores get the power to change the names of horror films to better suit their opinion of what consumers will find okay? Wal-Mart has done it again. The last film they renamed was A Christmas Horror Story, which they changed to A Holiday Horror Story. Now, Deathgasm has fallen to the big-chain store. The movie will now be known as Heavy Metal Apocalypse, censorship at it’s finest (insert eye-roll) . Yes, you read that right. What is so offensive about the title “Deathgasm“? Nothing, in my opinion. I have to wonder, will they will start re-writing books next? Where does it end? No matter if you’re a metal-head or just a regular horror fan, Deathgasm will rock you. This is a fast paced, brutal, but hilarious horror flick is one you don’t want to miss. The film, written and directed by Jason Lei Howden, stars Milo Cawthorne, James Blake, Kimberly Crossman, Sam Berkley and Daniel Cresswell. In Deathgasm,

A Review Of Pay The Ghost Starring Nicolas Cage

Director Uli Edel’s latest feature Pay the Ghost, starring Nicholas Cage, is now out on DVD. This weekend I put on PJs, got comfy and turned on the film, not knowing exactly what to expect. I mean, let’s be honest, Nicholas Cage’s films have a hit or miss reputation these days. The Walking Dead‘s Sarah Wayne Callies plays the role of Mike Lawford’s (Cage) in the film about a couple’s young son who goes missing on Halloween. Cage plays the role of Mike, a collage professor, who seems to miss most of his young son’s moments. On Halloween he’s to late to take his son trick ‘r treating. He manages to convince his wife to let him take his son to the Halloween carnival down the street. Just after the boy asks if he can “Pay the Ghost”, Mike turns his back for moment and his son disappears. Fast forward to a year later when he starts seeing visions of

Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse – A Review

There has been a lot of buzz about Christopher Landon’s zombie-comedy Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, now I know why. Last night when I sat down to watch Scouts Guide, I was hoping it would live up to the hype. The film follows three Scouts, who happen to be best friends. Two of the friends, Ben (Tye Sheridan) and Carter (Logan Miller), are starting to worry how people look at them. They’ll be juniors (in high school) next year and like most kids at that age, they worry girls won’t think they’re cool. While trying decide how to tell Augie (Joey Morgan) (the third friend) they want to quit Scouts, they hit a deer. Ben and Carter are changing the tire when Carter’s sister Kendall (Halston Sage) and her boyfriend and friend pull up. Ben has had a crush on Kendall since he was little, but she’s pretty and popular, and she has a boyfriend, who’s a douche. Carter

A Review Of The Short Horror Film Seiren

Kat Threlkeld, who won best director at Mostra Amazona Cinema Festival in Brazil this year for her short film, Seiren, is already getting a lot of attention. In fact, the mermaid-horror was also featured at this year’s Blood in the Snow Festival. It’s great to see another talented female director in the horror genre, we have so few in comparison with the number of male directors. I’ve been following Seiren for a while now. I was very excited to finally be able to see it last night and it did not disappoint. It began with a model on the beach, during a photo shoot. Soon she moves into the water for her next pose. Suddenly she screams, she’s bitten by something, what it was, she did not see. After returning home she falls ill and strange behavior over takes her. I won’t say any more about the plot, I would not want to spoil it for you. We see few
