I have put together a list of 25 interesting, little known facts about our favorite horror movies. Some of the facts are strange, some disturbing and some completely awesome. You may never look at these movies the same way again.

 

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

*The movie was loosely based on a true story.

*The original name was not The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The original name was “Head Cheese”.

*The bones that were used to decorate the interior of the house were actually real human bones.

Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)

*In Nightmare On Elm Street it shows Nancy watching tv to stay awake. The clip she is watching is actually the trailer for The Evil Dead.

*The words “Elm Street” are never said in the movie and only appear during the opening and closing credits.

An American Werewolf In London (1981)

*An American Werewolf In London was the first movie to win an Academy Award for Best Makeup.

Child’s Play (1988)

*Chucky’s full name, Charles Lee Ray, is made from the names of three notorious real life killers, Charles Manson, Lee Harvey Oswald and James Earl Ray.

*The working title for Child’s Play was “Blood Buddy”. The doll was inspired by Hasbro’s “My Buddy Doll”.

*Pennywise’s red afro was actually Tim Curry’s real hair dyed bright red.

*The movie is believed to be cursed because Stephen Spielberg allowed the crew to use real human remains in several of the scenes. The reason, human remain were cheaper than the plastic versions.

*The original title for Halloween was The Babysitter Murders.

*Michael’s mask is actually a William Shatner mask painted white.

*Anthony Hopkins never blinks on camera during the entire movie. He got the idea by watching hours of interviews of  Charles Manson.

*Bosco chocolate syrup was used as the blood in NOTLD. Since the movie is in black and white no one could tell.

*In the scene where the alien burst out of the actor’s chest, director Ridley Scott unexpectedly sprayed the actors with real entails that were bought that day from a local butcher shop, with the hopes of making their screams of horror more authentic.

*At the theatrical debut a man fainted and hit a chair, breaking his jaw. He sued Warner Brothers. They settled out of court paying an unknown amount to the man.
