‘Home Sweet Hell’, directed by Anthony Burns and written by Carlo Allen and Ted Elrich, has a star studded cast that includes ‘The Conjuring’ actor Patrick Wilson, Kathrine Heigl (‘Grey’s Anatomy’), Furious Seven’ actress Jordana Brewster, Kevin McKidd (‘Hannibal Rising’), Chi McBride (‘Hawaii Five-O) and ‘According To Jim’ actor Jim Belushi.

On the outside it appears that Don Champagne (Wilson) has the perfect life, a beautiful wife, a successful business, a beautiful home and two wonderful kids, but the truth is his wife Mona (Heigl) is obsessed with perfection. Don begins an affair with Dusty (Brewster), the new saleswoman at his furniture store. Dusty is beautiful and Don feels alive for the first time in a long time. He has no idea that he’s being played. When Dusty tells Don she’s pregnant with his baby, he comes up with the idea to pay her off, but that’s exactly what she wants. Dusty and her real boyfriend have pulled this scheme many times. When Dusty demands more and threatens to tell Mona, Don has no choice but tell his wife.  When Don breaks the news to Mona she has a very odd reaction, she tells Don that he has to kill his mistress. Don drugs Dusty but it doesn’t kill her, Mona finishes the job, but she actually seems to enjoy it. The chaos doesn’t end there, Dusty’s real boyfriend wants the money and Mona decides she’ll kill him too. Mona is dropping bodies left and right. When she threatens to kill Don and he sees how she treats his kids at a birthday party he realizes he has to kill her for everyone’s sake.

When I sat down to watch ‘Home Sweet Hell’ I wasn’t sure what to expect. I have to say, I really enjoyed the movie. Katherine Heigl plays the role of psychotic bitch incredibly well and Patrick Wilson really nailed his role as brow beaten husband. The plot, gore, and action were perfectly timed. As far as big budget horror-comedies go, ‘Home Sweet Hell’ is definitely worth seeing, though I’m not sold on the horror part of  “horror-comedy”, but check it out.
