Get ready to tear your soul apart! BOOM! Studios have been on an absolute tear resurrecting the Clive Barker-created Hellraiser franchise this year, Bloody-Disgusting reports. After blowing horror fans away by bringing three classic Barker comic series back to shelves and announcing five all-new one-shots, BOOM! proved it was only the beginning of the nightmare. BOOM! is officially bringing two brand-new, ongoing comic series set to plunge readers deep into the horrific depths of the Labyrinth: Hellraiser: Hellbound Hearts and Hellraiser: New Parables.

Surviving the Box in Hellraiser: Hellbound Hearts

Launching in January 2027, Hellraiser: Hellbound Hearts pairs acclaimed author Mike Costa with visionary artist Jan Bazaldua. The story centers on a ragtag group of terrorized survivors, each bearing their own deep physical and psychological scars from previous encounters with the Cenobites. Armed with the Lament Configuration and fueled by resentment, the misfits seek out the dark forces. But are they truly prepared to hear what Pinhead has to say? Costa noted that working on Barker’s world requires digging into deeply uncomfortable territory, praising Bazaldua’s fearless artistic partnership. The premiere issue will also feature an incredible lineup of variant covers from legendary artists including Jim Cheung, Jonathan Wayshak, and Ito.

“Working on Hellraiser is one of the most daunting challenges a writer can face. The genius of Clive Barker, the thing that makes his original stories special, is that they’re not just scary, they make you feel ugly and bad. And uncomfortable in your own skin—maybe that’s why people are always getting their skin ripped off,” Costa said in a statement. “But you really have to dig deep into some awful stuff to do this franchise justice. And I’m glad I have a collaborator as special as Jan to help me swing the shovel; it’s not easy work.” Bloody-Disgusting quotes.

Leviathan Watches in Hellraiser: New Parables

Following in April 2027, New York Times bestselling author Sarah Gailey joins forces with artist Savanna Mayer for Hellraiser: New Parables. It picks up after Hellraiser: The Return of the Priest #1. Pinhead and his New Monastic Order of the Gash find themselves walking on thin ice. The ancient Council of Leviathan has taken notice of Pinhead’s new scions, Quiver and Sublux. It has also taken notice of their unauthorized devotion to suffering. However, with the mysterious Engineer seemingly granting the Order his blessing, the Council steps in to investigate the divine heresy.

“I am beginning to suspect that I may be the luckiest person alive,” said Gailey about NEW PARABLES. “Working with artist Savanna Mayer is already proving to be a highlight of my career. Mayer approaches art with a level of fearless detail that I have rarely witnessed. Their art reminds me, appropriately enough, of Clive Barker’s paintings.”

“In many ways, it was his art that turned me into a horror fan, and I am so honored to get to work with Savanna to tell Hellraiser stories,” they continued. “Editor Ari Yarwood is a brilliant captain for our team. Together, I suspect we are going to make something truly wretched.”

Pre-Orders Open for the Ultimate Descent into Hell

BOOM! will publish both upcoming titles and distribute them globally through Penguin Random House. Horror diehards and comic collectors can pre-order Hellbound Hearts and New Parables through their local comic shops starting today, ahead of their 2027 releases.
