According to sources some residents are up in arms about the legion of Walking Dead fans that have over run their small town of Senoia. Their complaints are understandable. Property is being damaged, litter has become a problem, traffic is being affected and lives of the residents of the once sleepy town have become more complicated due to the overwhelming number fans and the destruction they leave behind them.
Petitions have began to surface that urge the Senoia City Council to take action. The change.org petition started by Kent Wagner states
“If action isn’t taken soon someone is going to get hurt. People are climbing trees, crawling through storm drains, polluting the beautiful landscape, impeding traffic…”
This isn’t the first time The Walking Dead has come under fire with residents or the City Council. There are many complaints about the traffic and closed roads caused by filming. City Council members have stated that the town gets very little in the way of compensation for their troubles.
Senoia is not the only town having problems involving fans of The Walking Dead. An issue has recently begun, involving an iconic brick wall in Grantville, Ga. The wall was featured in the episode ‘Clear’. Visitors have started busting holes in the wall and stealing bricks, causing the wall to become unsafe and an eye sore.
I understand the pull of owning a piece of Walking dead history for yourself, but when it comes to the destruction of private or public property, it’s just wrong. There are a ton of shops and websites selling items, so buy something, don’t steal from or damage the communities that support the show you love so much or just might end up behind bars.
