‘The Cabin in the Woods’ has been hailed as one of the most important horror films of the past decade. At the end it appeared the world was coming to an end, or was it?  Lionsgate has now approached the original film’s director, Drew Goddard, about doing a sequel. I’m not sure exactly how they would pull it off, but I would be happy to watch it.

In an interview with Den of Geek, Goddard revealed part of his discussion with the studio about doing a sequel.

“The studio has approached me and they want to do a sequel, funny part is, I don’t think we planned that movie to do a sequel, you know? But that being said, the fun thing about Cabin is, that rules are pretty crazy. We get away with a lot of stuff,” Goddard continued “So, I’me sure we could figure it out if we got inspired to. I know Joss and I both feel like we don’t want to tarnish what we did with the first one. With a sequel, we’d only do it if it made us laugh hard enough, I suppose.”

Will there be a sequel? It seems so. We all know how much studios love to make sequels, especially when the movie was as successful as ‘The Cabin in the Woods’.

Personally I would love to see it happen, as long as Goddard and Joss Whedon are involved again. If you remember, they reveal in the movie that the facility isn’t the only one of it’s kind. One option is for the sequel to take place at another location and facility.joss-whedon-drew-goddard759

In the 2012 film, a group of friends head to a secluded cabin for the weekend, but after reading a diary they found in the basement all hell breaks loose. Under the cabin a facility, housing all manner of terrifying creatures, awaits the death of each of the friends in order to appease ancient gods.
