We reported earlier this month the James Wan has begun filming on The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist. Wan even shared a series of the photos from the film’s sets. The film, a sequel to the 2013 The Conjuring, is based on Ed and Loraine Warren’s investigation that took place in the 1970’s, in England, when a single mother and her children were plagued by intense paranormal activity.
Earlier today Bloody-Disgusting disclosed that they had stumbled across a brief interaction on Twitter between actress Alexa Najera and a fan. Najera confirmed that she will be playing the role of Allison DeFeo in The Conjuring 2, leading us all to believe that not only will the film cover the Enfield events, but also the famous Amityville case.
Allison DeFeo was one of the daughters of Louise and Ronald DeFeo. The entire family was butchered around 6:30 PM on Wednesday, November 13, 1974 by Ronald and Louise’s eldest son, Ronald Jr. who claimed he was possessed. In September of 1977 Jay Ansona published a book that describes the haunting of the Lutz family, the next family to live in the DeFeo home. The book inspired the 1979 film The Amityville Horror, which was remade in 2005.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will be reprising their roles as the famous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens investigated both the Enfield incident and the Amityville case in real life.
The film’s cast also includes Lauren Esposito, Frances O’Connor, Simon McBurney, Franka Potente, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Simon Delaney, Patrick McAuley, Benjamin Haigh and Madison Wolfe. The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist is set to open in theaters on June 10, 2016.
