Robert Eggers, writer and director of the acclaimed film The Witch, is set to make a new film based on the 1922 silent masterpiece Nosferatu. The first vampire to ever be depicted on film will return to the silver screen via Eggers’ new version of the black and white classic. Jay Van Hoy and Lars Knudsen will serve as producers according to Deadline.
There has been no release date announced. Eggers has another project to complete ahead of Nosferatu, a miniseries recounting the rise and fall of Russia’s mystic Rasputin. Eggers is also slatted to write and direct an upcoming medieval film titled The Knight, which Hoy and Knudsen are also producing.
