Peaky Blinders actress Annabelle Wallis has confirmed that she will star along side Tom Cruise in Universal’s upcoming reboot of The Mummy. Wallis confirmed by posting the following message on Instagram:
“Very excited to be joining this incredible group of people. #TheMummy #TomCruise and Belle’s XX.”
Wallis will be playing the role of an archaeologist in the revamped version of the 1932 classic. Sofia Boutella has been cast as the mummy, originally played by Boris Karloff. Alex Kurtzman will be directing the reboot, based on the new script penned by Jon Spaihts. The Mummy will open in theaters on June 9th, 2017.
The Mummy will part of Universal’s new shared universe, with a Marvel-style set up. There are already plans in place to remake The Bride of Frankenstein, in which they hope Angelina Jolie-Pitt will star. They also intend to reboot Van Helsing, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Wolf Man.
