Last year Netflix subscribers became borderline-obsessed with the docu-series Making A Murderer. The series explored the the arrest and conviction of Steven Avery. Avery, convicted of murder, still insists that he is innocent. When the series ended people were left wanting more.
His arrest came just after his release, serving 18 years wrongfully convicted of rape and attempted murder. People theorize that he was framed for the murder of Teresa Halbach in 2005 as retaliation for a lawsuit totaling $36 million against Manitowoc County, its sheriff, and its district attorney for his wrongful conviction.
Today, Netflix announced that there will be a second season of Making A Murderer is in the works. The new episodes will look closer at Avery and his co-defendent, Brendan Dassey and their legal teams who are fighting to over turn the convictions. The toll of the trial and the sentencing of both men and their loved ones will also be examined.
The second season will also offer an exclusive point of view of Avery’s new lawyer, Kathleen Zelner and Dassey’s legal team led by Laura Nirider and Steve Drizin. We will also hear new theories from the defense and learn of new evidence in the case.
We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of the series.” The series’ executive producers and creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos. “The viewers’ and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold.
Will give an update when we know more.
