Stephen Shainberg’s adventure thriller, ‘Rapture’, has just premiered at the 20th annual Fantasia Film Festival and should see its theatrical release soon. The first images from the film have surfaced, along with the plot, via Dread Central.
The script penned by Brian Nelson (30 Days of Night) is based on the story that he created with Shainberg. ‘Rapture’ stars Noomi Repace (Prometheus) and Michael Chiklis (American Horror Story), Peter Stormare (Fargo), Kerry Bishe (Argo), Lesley Manville (Maleficent), and Ari Millen (Orphan Black).
Renee Morgan (Repace), a single mother who lives with her 12-year-old son Evan in a suburban home, is terrified of spiders. Renee has no idea that someone is watching her every move. While running her daily errands her car breaks down and she is kidnapped. She wakes up 24 hours later, in a strange laboratory. She is bound and is being questioned about her medical history and her fear of spiders. Soon, her captors explain that she has a genetic abnormality that can allow her to “rapture”, revealing her true alien nature.
The trailer and release date should arrive soon. Stay tuned.
