Every self-respecting horror fan has seen 1999’s The Blair Witch Project. But here’s something you might know, the ground-breaking film generated over 19 hours of usable footage. Blair Witch Project was edited down to only 90 minutes. For genre fans and fans of The Blair Witch Project’s unused footage is kind of a holy grail.
During an interview with the Found Footage Files podcast Eduardo Sánchez, co-creator of The Blair Witch Project and executive producer of the up coming Blair Witch sequel, revealed that he wants to use the unseen footage.
In a couple of weeks I could probably that the original movie and edit a longer version. I know the fans are like ‘Everybody wants to see it’… it would be cool to do, honestly. I wouldn’t hesitate to do that if Lionsgate Films hired me. I think it would be a lot of fun.” Sánchez continued. “Start a petition…if I can get enough interest from the fans, I can bring it to Lionsgate Films’ attention.”
