‘Supernatural’ fans are wondering just what the Winchesters will be up to in season 12. We have the answer, without spilling too many spoilers. The upcoming season is already being described as the most insane season yet. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) will not only be up against Lucifer in his new body, played by rocker Rick Springfield, the brothers will also be fighting…wait for it….Adolf Hitler. The boys’ mother, Mary (Samantha Smith),will be back this season, adding more weirdness to the situation.

We do have some heartbreaking news, Padalecki, Ackles and executive producer Robert Singer have teased that they have an endgame in mind and a time. Reportedly, they are eyeing the shows end for the 300th episode, right smack in the middle of season 14.However, Mark Pedowitz, the President of The CW is saying something different. He has said that as long as the cast are happy and the ratings are good the show will continue on.
We talked about wanting to be able to know when our end was, and if it was to be, let’s say, 300 episodes, we could tell a 13-episode story.” Singer continued. “I think it would be bad for this show to just ride off in the sunset without a finale. I think we’ve earned that. I don’t know what the finale is, but we’d certainly like to do one.”
Jared Padalecky (Sam) had this to say about the future of ‘Supernatural’:
If we don’t make it to 300, I think Ackles and I will both be truly bummed.” Padalecky said.” When we get to 300, I think it might be time to say bye. There’s a chance that changes, but we certainly do not take it for granted that we’re going to make it to 300. I feel I’ve learned a lot from my friend Sam. I want to tell that story as well as possible as long as possible, but I don’t want it to get too long in the tooth.”

Jensen Ackles (Dean) put his two-cents in about the situation and it made a lot of sense, in fact what both actors said did.
I feel like if I ever show up and I feel like I don’t care, or if I feel like he doesn’t care, then that’s the canary leaving the mine. Th this day, I have not really ever sensed that from myself or him…They’re paying us to bring that little bit of magic to what they wrote, and I still feel that magic today. The day that I don’t feel that magic will be a very sad day, and I hope that day never comes. I’d like to get to 300 before that day comes.”

The Winchesters have literally been to Hell and back. They’ve fought vampires, demons, angels and everything in between. I hate to think about the series coming to an end, but I would like to see go out still on top. Sam and Dean, Cass, Crowley and the rest of the Scooby gang deserve that. God (or should I say Chuck) knows I’d miss them.
Season 12 premieres on Thursday, October 13th a 9pm ET. Pick up your copy of Entertainment Weekly now, featuring Sam/Padalecki and Dean/Ackles on the cover.
